"Serviced furnace and cleaned HVAC for the winter. Excellent service, Fast, clean work and let me know that part of the work could not be completed because of the weather but they will return to finish when the temp is right. If they had not told me, I would have never known. Honesty and integrity is all important to me. Will definitely hire again."

"He is very good. I had another company come in that I had used for years, and they came in and said my water heater needed to be replaced. On an whim, I called Bruce's Air, and he came in and said it doesn't need to be replaced, just this part. He replaced the part, and everything was fixed. It cost me $70 compared to about $500 to $600. If I ever move back to El Paso, I would use him again."

"Gave me a thorough analysis of my attic insulation and a proposal to make it better. I liked what Manuel had to say and set up a time to get some insulation installed. My blown in wool fiber insulation was rated R-38 when I had the house built in 1995, but over the years it settled down some and in some places was lacking, like over the garage. Plus Manuel's product - blown in fiberglass - wouldn't settle and would last for the life of the house. Manuel and his crew blew in the insulation on the 26th of July. He first sealed my overhead canned lighting and installed dozens of baffles to improve attic airflow from the soffits to the ridge vents. He also covered items I had stored in the attic with protective plastic wrap. It was pretty warm in the attic that day and I have to hand it to Manuel and his crew for doing the job under such conditions. Plus I have a split attic and Manuel elected to climb up and over to get into the second part. I may have met Superman that hot July day. After Manuel and his crew were done my attic looked like a beautiful winter Wonderland. They then did a great job cleaning up. They really did treat my house as if it were their own. I had two large attic spaces so the bill came to $4490, but according to the paperwork Manuel prepared, I should get $880.95 back from CPS. The amount was $400 more than the proposal because I had Manuel install more baffles at his suggestion to make the airflow as good as it could be. I waited a month to see if the extra insulation (an extra 20 inches) would have the desired effect. Well, I just got my CPS bill for August and for the 22 years I have been living here it was the lowest August bill I have ever seen. My average August bill over the 22 years was $211 and this August bill was $145 - a significant improvement considering how hot it has been this August. Oh, by the way, Manuel fixed an air leak at my duct exchange as a courtesy. Great job, great company, great benefits!"

Air Duct Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You can keep your air vents working properly by regularly cleaning them and replacing any air filters as necessary. Your air vents will also work best if you clean and lubricate the exhaust fans and reduce humidity to prevent condensation on them.

Healthy air change per hour, or ACH, rates vary by room, usage, average occupancy, and volume. The minimum ACH that's considered healthy averaged throughout the home is 0.35. However, in rooms where humidity is an issue, such as bathrooms and kitchens, healthy ACH levels are between eight and 15.

Excessive humidity in a room often manifests through visible signs like condensation on windows or walls, a musty or damp odor lingering in the air, peeling wallpaper or paint, and the presence of mold or mildew. Experiencing discomfort due to a consistently clammy or sticky feeling can also indicate high humidity levels.

To extend your HVAC system’s lifespan, it’s crucial to keep up with maintenance. This includes changing filters and thermostat batteries, keeping the outside unit clean and clear of clutter, and lubricating moving parts. Watch out for leaks, mold buildup, and blockages to ensure your unit stays in good working order. Spotting these issues early can be the difference between a simple, wallet-friendly repair and an expensive replacement.

Return air ducts should generally not be installed in rooms with high humidity, contaminants, or strong odors. This includes bathrooms, kitchens, garages, closets, attics, and furnace or boiler rooms. Placing vents in these areas can draw moisture, fumes, odors, and potentially hazardous gases like carbon monoxide into your HVAC system, which can damage ductwork, promote mold growth, and compromise your home's indoor air quality and safety. According to the International Code Council, there are some exceptions. For example, a return duct may be placed in a kitchen if it is at least 10 feet away from cooking appliances and serves only that room. Similarly, a garage can have a return duct if it is part of a dedicated forced-air system that only serves the garage. For optimal performance, prioritize installing return air vents in central locations and rooms with consistent temperature needs, such as bedrooms and living spaces. If you are unsure, consult a professional duct installer for guidance.
