"The gentleman from Proficient Plumbing was on time, courteous and, most importantly, effective. He replaced the rod with a new one and we agreed to do a chlorine test to first clean the system of sulphur. It all went perfectly. I was very impressed."

"The office manager Erika was very courteous and made setting up the appointment as simpe as could be. The estimator Tim, was expeditious with the pricing and explained tge option very thoroughly. Then therecwerectge two technicians assigned to my job, Charlie and Andrew. Knowledgeable to The Max. Courteous to The Max. I truly could not have imagined thus level of satisfaction from a contractor, nor have I evercexperuenced it. The initial appointment was to have them install a new kitchen faucet, replace an outdoor hose bin, replacecwaher hot and cold valves and lastly, modify and replace my main water cutoff and meter header which was tricky and difficult since we are on a slab and the original valve was half encased in tge slab. Charlie and Andrew made easy work of it even though it was so involved. I liked their work so much and was so impressed with the company's level of professionalism and customer service, that I scheduled them to come back a week later to replace my long overdue water heater. They completed test job today 7/24/24."

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

Even a single, one-time exposure to asbestos can be harmful and pose health risks. According to the EPA, any contact can increase the risk of developing asbestos-related diseases and certain types of cancer, although the likelihood of severe health issues increases with repeated or prolonged exposure.

The severity of a single exposure depends on factors like the duration, intensity, and concentration of the asbestos fibers. While a small amount is less likely to cause significant damage, a high concentration can lead to serious long-term lung damage. Individual reactions vary, and asbestos-related illnesses may not appear for 10 to 40 years after inhalation.

Given these risks, always take precautions around any material suspected to contain asbestos. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may not be completely effective. If you suspect asbestos is in your home, hire a professional for testing and removal. If you are worried about a potential exposure, consult your doctor.

Asbestos is a carcinogen, meaning it increases the risk of cancer. Inhaling asbestos fibers is linked to several respiratory issues, including asbestosis, or scarring on the lungs, lung cancer, and mesothelioma, another type of cancer. There's also a link between asbestos exposure and an increased risk of colon cancer and other cancers of the digestive system.

Usually, the people most at risk for disease related to asbestos exposure are those who spend a lot of time working around the material without protection. Electricians who work with asbestos wire have a higher risk of developing mesothelioma or lung cancer due to their exposure.

You can tell if old flooring has asbestos if thick black flooring adhesive is underneath the tiles. However, homeowners should not cut into linoleum floors to look for this adhesive. Instead, hiring a specialist to test the floors is the only safe way to determine if old flooring has asbestos.

Asbestos fibers can stay airborne for 48 to 72 hours, depending on the home's ventilation. Fibers can linger longer in enclosed spaces with poor airflow. Because the fibers are microscopic, they can easily remain suspended, making them difficult to detect without professional equipment.

Hiring a professional for mold and toxic material testing ensures precise identification of harmful substances within a home. Professionals utilize specialized equipment and techniques, providing accurate results that inform proper removal strategies, safeguarding occupant health.
