"This was a top to bottom power wash, hand scrap, base priming, Ready Patch of boards, hand sanding of Ready Patch, another priming, top coat, trim work, wood repair and shutters of a 218 year old home. Results are amazing, so much so that people stop by to complement the quality of the workmanship. Words cannot due justice to the outcome of this time consuming project. If your home is in need of a professional, reliable and responsive team look no further. Hire Maurice and his crew. You won't be disappointed. Highly recommended."

"Wilber's Painting did a fantastic job painting the exterior of my home. I own a 1926 Sears & Roebuck Kit house. The house is the Osborn kit model and has exquisite detailed wood exterior moldings. The house is part asbestos, part stucco and part wood. Wilber's painters did a magnificent job paying very close attention to each and every detail. Wilber's replaced rotted wood. Wilber's repaired damaged areas. The painters evenly, thoughtfully and generously applied the paint to the house in painstaking detail. The painters were friendly, kind and professional. Wilber guarantees his work and personally came to the home to review the job. Wilber's painting is really an excellent choice if you're painting your house -- interior or exterior. I highly recommend!"

"We are having a kitchen and dining area remodel on a 19th Century house with very small interior spaces. Anina Peter patiently and enthusiastically walked us through the entire process, offered several design options, and helped us choose everything from cabinets to hardware to countertops and paint colors. The process was efficient and the materials were competitively priced. (We did decide to use our own carpenter to install.) Anina answered all our questions, including several back-and-forths about various details via email. She made this challenging process much smoother than it might overwise have been."

"We are beyond thrilled with the work done by Homeline Construction. Ardian and his team, built our backsteps Using stunning bluestone caps and stone veneers. They were even able to expertly reinstall our existing railing. The price was very fair and the impeccable craftsmanship speaks for itself. We've already rehired them to remodel our patio next! We highly recommend homeline for any masonry or stone projects."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

Converting a carport into a garage can vary in difficulty depending on its configuration, the condition of the foundation or slab, and its location relative to the house. The process has a lot in common with a home addition, but you can often skip non-essential finishes like fine flooring, trim work, or even drywall and HVAC. The conversion requires experience with drywall, insulation, and other building materials to ensure it’s done safely and correctly. While it might be possible for a DIYer with the proper tools and skills to do the work, it is a complicated and potentially dangerous job. If you’re new to basic construction, it's best to leave this project to the professionals.

Traditionally, bungalows are single-story homes, although having a half or partial story on top of the first floor is common. While adding a second story to a bungalow is certainly possible, the home would no longer be considered a bungalow by the strictest definition.

When deciding if you should use 2x6 or 2x8 deck joists, consider the size of the deck, joist spacing, and materials. Larger decks, larger-spaced joists, and weaker wood all require more support, meaning they need larger joists. For example, 2x8 redwood joists spaced 16 inches apart can only safely span up to 10 feet and 7 inches. On the other hand, 2x10 southern pine joists spaced 12 inches apart can be as big as 16 feet and 2 inches. If you aren’t sure what size joist is best for your project, speak with your deck builder.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.
