"I was very please with Mastership tree service- came today done in a flash taking away a fallen dead tree. He was very knowledgeable about trees when he came to see the job I called for and that impressed me. "We had a tree come down in a storm a couple of years back, I'ma be honest it's been a little while. That was 2 or 3 years ago. They did a phenomenal job. They cleaned up, almost cleaned up too well. We wanted them to leave more granite for the fireplace and stuff like that I had to tell them "Wait, don't shred them all" but they were very kind about setting things aside, dusting main pieces of wood that we wanted to keep for our fireplace and getting rid of everything else. They tidied up beautifully. They worked very fast. I don't know how many helpers they had, but they were really quick. It was a part of a tree that a lightning bolt took off the top, almost half. The tree forked about 20 ft above the ground and the lightning took off one of the two halves of the tree. Unfortunately, a little bit of it hit the roof of the house and punched a hole about the size of your fist into and got that patched up. The people did a phenomenal job getting what was on the lawn of the lawn. They showed up on time, right away. They were top notch."

"A tree fell during a storm on 9/12 and was blocking the street in front of my house. I reached NJTS first thing in the morning.  Rich visited approximately an hour and a half after my call, gave me a reasonable estimate to remove the fallen tree (part of which was still standing), and gave me another quote for trimming other trees while the crew was here. I accepted and the crew came after another hour and a half and worked through the afternoon (approximately five hours, including a lunch break). They seemed good at their work and were efficient and cleaned up well after themselves. They were also careful during the removal of the branches to avoid hurting the bamboo that the branches fell on (something I asked Rich to ask the crew). The company website states that the company accepts credit cards, but Rich failed to tell me that if I used one to pay, I would be charged an additional 3%.  The website does not state that fact either. I was only told that fact when I called the office in order to pay the bill.  That is my main complaint about the service, otherwise I would recommend this company.

"We had a fabulous experience with A&T Tree service. They were a pleasure to work with. We have had a few estimates over the past few years and crazy expensive. A&T were the most reasonable and we will be using them again this spring to do another segment of our large yard. Kind and accommodating. Highly recommend and would look no further."

"Extremely professional and courteous. Excellent clean up. Tom and his team climbed the trees , carefully and safely cut the tree into many pieces so as not to damage the house and electrical wires. They removed existed fallen debris without any additional cost. I will highly recommend this company. In fact, my neighbors pleased with his job already hired him."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You should not trim an oak tree in the summer. Oak trees are especially susceptible to disease, and open tree wounds are an invitation for beetles that carry tree-killing fungus. If there’s no risk that the oak tree will do damage to your property or hurt someone, it’s best to save the trimming for fall or winter. If you can, seal the wound with latex to prevent fungus from getting inside.

Depending on the severity of the damage, a tree might continue healing for years after a split or a break. Saplings can usually bounce back in the spring in one or two seasons, but larger trees might take a few years to regain their former strength. If your tree is showing strong growth and is not dropping limbs, you can consider it healed after the first two seasons.

The best way to protect tree roots is to avoid the roots entirely by excavating outside the root radius of the tree. For nearby projects, it’s a good idea to construct a temporary retaining wall. But that’s not always possible, depending on the project and the root system. In these cases, consider using alternative equipment like an auger to tunnel under the ground.

Remember, tree roots can damage nearby cement foundations as they grow. If a tree is close enough to interfere with large excavations, it may be better to remove the tree than risk future problems.

Licensing requirements for arborists, also known as tree surgeons, vary by state and municipality. Many areas require a license, which often involves specialized education and experience. Even if not mandated, it's wise to hire a licensed professional as they tend to have more experience. Beyond licensing, look for certifications from organizations like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), as this indicates a higher level of expertise. Certified arborists must typically pass a comprehensive exam. Always confirm that the arborist has a business license and is fully insured to protect yourself from liability. Seeking positive recommendations from local homeowners is also a good step in finding a qualified professional.

If a tree stump is removed properly, the chances of a tree growing back are low. However, if a tree has a robust root system, roots can sometimes sprout and someday grow into a tree. The chance of regrowth will depend on several factors such as the type of tree, soil quality, and strength of the root system. In general, it is not recommended to plant a tree where a stump was removed.
