It took a little doing to get dates down and the crew here, (when hasn't that happened?) but overall, they did a great job cutting and cleaning up after.  Very professional and a fantastic job at a great price.

This is the worst experience I have had with any service provider. I was initially referred to North Jersey Tree Specialists by PSEG for a hazard tree that was leaning over across the primary line in our back yard.  North Jersey Tree Specialists LLC came out and also noticed that my neighbor's tree across the street needed cut and I was offered a discount for if my neighbor signed up as
well.  I thought it would be good for us both and my neighbor agreed.   
The office told me that they would call me three days in advance to schedule the date.  I wasnt hearing anything from them and I decided to call back in to find out about dates. After repeated back and forth they told me on Monday that they would be coming on Tuesday.  This was unfortunate since i couldn't be there.  There was no lead time.  
I then asked about having some of the wood left behind for firewood. The office said this could be done with some of the smaller logs and they could leave me some. I was then contacted and told that Rich, the owner, wanted to talk to me about this.  We had a phone call and I was informed that he wanted to take my tree (black walnut) to the mill and he would bring me some oak logs for me to split for firewood.  Thinking this was good for him since he could offset some cost I agreed. 
When I arrived home, the company had cut the black walnut tree in the backyard with enormous logs that nobody without an industrial sized chainsaw would be able to split.  I called the office and asked why the original tree was in the back and why the oak logs weren?t there.  I mentioned I was dissatisfied and asked the office to discuss so we could figure out a solution.  
Later that night Rich, the owner, showed up to our house and was pounding on our door. I was not home at the time but the threatening nature of his 8pm visit left my wife and son terrified.  She put him on the phone and he wanted to know what the issue was.  When I asked about the giant logs Rich said he couldn?t find the oak to bring and told his crew to just leave the tree.  He said i could go buy a chainsaw and cut it up. 
He then demanded payment and insisted the tree was my problem.  This violated our agreement, and worse his approach to scaring my family left me with no choice but to ask my wife to issue him a check for payment especially since i was not home to ensure their safety.  To make matters worse, he demanded an additional $100 to come back and take the logs away.  
I remain horrified that this type of business can be transacted without consequence.  I wish I could have called the police to have him removed from our property.  My only recourse is to share my story so anyone selecting this company can be aware of the type of dealings they might encounter.  STAY CLEAR 

over all they do excellent work??.they got the wrong weekend but that was no big deal?..very nice guys would do business with then again.  SUPER!

They were young, they were ambitious, they did a great job, they gave a good price, and they were good guys. I loved it, I just thought they were really great.

I have a lot of overgrown trees on my property, plus neighbors' trees that hang over into my yard. This is the third time I've used North Jersey Tree Specialists, and I continue to be very satisfied with their work. The guys always do a good job and they clean up all remaining debris after a tree is cut down. They've made my yard much neater, brighter, and safer by the work they've done. Their prices are always very reasonable. They are my go-to tree service.

Very good. The Oak Tree was huge and they removed it without any damage to my home. Since the snow was bad they even plowed the driveway as a courtesy. That was very nice. They beat competitors by $500. Another bonus. Thank you.

North Jersey Tree Specialists were extremely courteous, polite, and professional. This applies to both Jessica in the office, as well as the three men who actually did the work. They were punctual and did exactly what was agreed upon--- no unpleasant surprises. They removed the agreed-upon branch, as well as other dead wood in the tree. They then cleaned up all the fallen wood and removed it. I was satisfied with the work and would hire them again.

A tree fell during a storm on 9/12 and was blocking the street in front of my house. I reached NJTS first thing in the morning.  Rich visited approximately an hour and a half after my call, gave me a reasonable estimate to remove the fallen tree (part of which was still standing), and gave me another quote for trimming other trees while the crew was here. I accepted and the crew came after another hour and a half and worked through the afternoon (approximately five hours, including a lunch break). They seemed good at their work and were efficient and cleaned up well after themselves. They were also careful during the removal of the branches to avoid hurting the bamboo that the branches fell on (something I asked Rich to ask the crew). The company website states that the company accepts credit cards, but Rich failed to tell me that if I used one to pay, I would be charged an additional 3%.  The website does not state that fact either. I was only told that fact when I called the office in order to pay the bill.  That is my main complaint about the service, otherwise I would recommend this company.

everything went well however some confusion about who was coming for payment and estimate for another job

I had a rotting maple tree in my backyard that was constantly dropping leaves and branches into the pool and onto my deck. After our past summer storms, I was lucky that the tree had not caused any real damage to my home. After calling North Jersey Tree Specialists, I received an estimate within two days. The estimate was lower than just about everyone else who I contacted. NJTS was the only company who provided a copy of proof of insurance with their estimate which I appreciated. After agreeing to service, it took about 3 weeks to schedule a date as they were not in the area before then. Also, before you schedule service for your own home, contact your town first to find out if any permits are necessary and how long you'll have to wait for inspection.
The crew that arrived were prompt and professional. They cut the top half of the tree and removed it via crane over my house (pretty cool thing to watch!). After cutting the remaining half, the crew were pretty thorough with clean up of wood dust and branches. They didn't get everything but that wasn't expected. Overall, a great job and I'll be sure to call them again. Thank you!
