"Martin and his helper Jose did a wonderful job restreching my carpeting. After restrecthing, they also cleaned it for a very fair price. I'm extremely happy with they way my carpeting looks......just like brand new and it's been walked on for almost 20 years. I will recommend MC Carpets and definetly will hire them again."

"It was fine. Worked very well. They got stains out of the carpet that I didn't think would come out. Good job. They did it expeditiously. Everything went as solid, I was very pleased. One thing they didn't tell me that I could choose stain removal, or deodorizer treatment. My family room needed the deodorizer treatment, and it smelled like a wet dog, but now I can't detect the smell. They were good.Good price."

"Kyle allowed me to bring the carpet (5x7 ft) to him. He did the work in his basement. He explained what he was doing and why. Very congenial and polite fellow. The result was excellent and no odors left behind. Would definitely do business again."

"All natural carpet cleaning is simply the best. They are professional, kind, helpful, and go above and beyond. They have expertise is getting out any stain you can imagine a toddler can get on expensive furniture and have saved the day many times. My kids love when they come too because the owner is so kind and lets them “help!” I cannot recommend them more! They also sanitize, which is great to get rid of the endless school germs."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.

Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

Carpet is most often affixed to the floor by tacks in tack strips rather than nailed or glued directly to the subfloor. The tack strips are nailed to wood subfloors. Even if you want to install carpet over concrete, you’ll adhere the tack strips to the concrete with masonry nails or a liquid adhesive.

Costs depend on carpet quality, labor, underlayment, and furniture moving requirements.

In most cases, you do not need to put padding or underlayment under carpet tiles. Unlike traditional carpet, which requires a separate pad, carpet tiles are designed to be installed directly onto a firm subfloor like plywood, concrete, or tile. Many carpet tiles come with a built-in underlay and attach with peel-and-stick adhesive, double-sided carpet tape, or glue. For a more comfortable, cushioned feel, especially in residential settings, you can opt for padded carpet tiles that have a thicker underlay attached. While it's generally not recommended to install a separate pad, a compact underlayment might be used in some situations, though this typically requires professional installation. An acoustic underlay may also be considered in commercial spaces or multi-level homes where noise reduction is a priority.

If the installer is unwilling to fix the problems and you’re not interested in seeking remediation, you could hide a visually unpleasant floor. This will only work if the floor is structurally sound and the only issue you have is the way it looks. The easiest way to do this is to use large area rugs. You can also paint the floor, although that’s a labor-intensive job if you want to go the DIY route.
