He did our trim and shutters that had not been painted in 14 years as well as the old garage door. This required a lot of sanding, scraping and re puttying the windows and doors. They now look almost brand new especially the garage door. His prices are very competitive and much better than the big paint consolidating chains. We will have him back to refinish our kitchen cabinets. You can trust Eric to do a first class job."

Our second-floor walkup rental unit in North Brooklyn hadn't been painted in nearly 10 years when our longtime tenant moved out in May. There was not only years of **** and possibly smoke accumulation to deal with but also lots of holes, mollies and dents in the walls and ceilings to tackle. In addition, timing was an issue as we had a family medical emergency smack dab in the middle of when the job was meant to start. Design Painting worked with us and around our difficulties. We had a good feeling from the get-go, when Nick arrived to do an on-site estimate and presented as friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He got back to us quickly with an excellent bid. It was not the absolute lowest we got but we accepted it because of the firm's reputation and presentation. Point person Jeremy was helpful with the scheduling and on-site workers who arrived to complete the job (5 rooms, walls and ceilings) were professional, friendly and efficient. "We were pleased to have hired Richard. He is a go-getter and was very proactive, customer focused and engaged through the process. The up front engagement/sales process was professional and smoothly transacted. Richard responded to all our questions in person and in emails and with photos. He also made a recommendation for a deck repair person that we engaged and were pleased with. During execution we did have some re-work which is what drives the overall rating to be a 4. We had a "supervisor"/lead person here throughout the job being one of the two workers but it is also this supervisor's work both in painting and in wood/caulking repair that had to be re-done. Had I not been home to spot the painting issue where wood was painted that was supposed to be left bare and was clearly delineated by Richard to the worker and in photos, the re-work would have been much more of a challenge but was fixed with paint remover and not too much effort. The wood/caulking work was quite clearly not well done initially by the "supervisor" either and was therefore redone when we pointed out our dissatisfaction in a walk through. I didn't have faith in the "supervisor"/lead person. The second person worked tirelessly and was what I'd call the workhorse. One thing that might have been improved is to have had a clearly communicated final inspection plan and date as I was a bit unclear when was to be called done as we had several walk throughs. Having several walk throughs is a positive thing but it would have been better to have the final clearly planned and communicated. Overall we recommend and are repeat Certapro Customers having used them at another home we owned in another state which is what drove us to favor the Company this time around."
