"Marlan handled the tiling for my large lower level and backsplash. For big areas and more decorative work, he’s the guy you want. When I had a sudden leak in my shower, he dropped everything and came through for me in an emergency. He also went above and beyond by returning excess materials I had purchased to Lowe’s on my behalf. Earlier, when the specific tile I wanted was only available in Staten Island and we were under a tight deadline, he personally picked it up—even though that’s not something he normally does. Throughout the project, Marlan was incredibly helpful, flexible, and coordinated seamlessly with various crews. He’s both dependable and a true perfectionist at his craft. I highly recommend him."

"Coley Tiling replaced 10 cracked ceramic tiles on my kitchen floor. The work was done in a few hours and you can't even tell there was ever a problem there. Richard was very diligent, he worked hard, gave me a great price and got the job done quickly and perfectly done. Very professional.."

"My experience was mediocre at best with this company. They were very good with starting the work. Towards the end of completion, they had one day that was a no show. I had to call to find out they couldn't come that day. I preferred to get a call from them rather having to follow up myself. The windows they installs were done incorrectly. Water stated to leak into the house and ruined the brand new sheetrock I installed. I would recommend this company for small jobs. They may try to cut corners if you dont keep an eye on them."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Add a T-shaped spacer to each corner of a tile when placing it. You’ll want to nudge the tiles closer together so the spacers are touching each corner. When you’re done installing your tile, you can remove each spacer, wash them, and use them for your next project.

Poured-in-place terrazzo flooring is more durable than tile. In fact, it’s one of the most durable types of flooring on the market. It can last anywhere from 40 to 100 years, depending on maintenance. On average, you can expect your terrazzo floor to last about 75 years, but you will have to make repairs as needed.

You can attach tiles to a wall using thin-set mortar. You’ll also need a notched trowel to create grooves within the adhesive so it flattens completely when pressed in and securely holds the wall tiles. Finally, you’ll need grout to smooth the gaps between the tiles and, ideally, a grout sealer to prevent mold. While it sounds simple enough, proper planning and execution are crucial, so carefully review the steps in this guide or hire a pro tile installer to complete this project.

While tile is the best option in the bathtub, don’t forget to consider the flooring around the wash station. Moisture-holding carpet is a no-no, but is tile or vinyl better for dogs? Tile flooring is tough, moisture-resistant, cool, and scratch-proof. However, it’s more tricky to install and costs more than vinyl flooring. If you opt for vinyl, select tough luxury vinyl flooring; otherwise, canine claws could quickly damage the surface of standard, budget vinyl.

Yes, cracked tiles allow water to seep through the substrate or subfloor, leading to mold and mildew growth. It can also cause severe structural damage. At the very least, water damage can cause your tile to lift from the substrate, meaning one cracked tile can lead to several cracked tiles. It’s a good idea to waterproof tile in areas with direct water exposure or lots of moisture.
