" Dan came out as a subcontractor to basement waterproofing company to install two new receptacles for the two sump pumps that had been installed. While there we asked him to fix a problem quad receptacle and inspect the existing basement and garage electrical for any code issues. He pointed out the exceptions and we asked him to go ahead and do the necessary work while he was there. Dan was very professional and explained all the work he would perform. He was there the entire day and everything has worked  fine since. I would not hesitate to call Friendly for any additional work I may need to have performed. "

"Dave arrived at the property on time and from the start I appreciated his professionalism.  He was very knowledgeable about the home's construction and immediately noticed safety hazards that I had overlooked upon my own, limited, cursory inspection.  None of the items he pointed out were deal-breakers, but before we went into final contract I was able to get the Sellers to repair these deficiencies (loose front pavers and handrails, leaking basement sink, uneven pavers around the pool, etc.).  He indicated which parts of the outdoor backyard wooden deck were subject to wood-rot and he also pointed out parts of the roof that might need a professional roofer to later address.  He pointed out that the water heater was ending it's useful life (over ten years old) and his concerns about the electric panel box (wattage input and wiring) were later addressed by the Seller to my satisfaction.  The professionals he brought in for the septic tank inspection utilized fiber optics, permitting a full examination of the septic tank, verifying that a new septic system had indeed been installed, correctly, as the Seller had asserted.  From the darkest corner of the basement to the dimly lighted attic, Dave gave valuable insights as to the construction-quality of the house.  I was very satisfied with his thorough report and the reports of the other inspectors.  Without reservation, I recommend Dave Polo & Associates very much!"

Hi! The cost to refinish a standard 5ft tub in white or off white, would be $399. This assumes that the tub is not a jetted tub has not been done before (if it has, it will need to be stripped, add $100); and that the tub is in good shape structurally (no leaks, major cracks, or drainage issues). If this is a clawfoot tub, the above would apply to the inside only. To include the tub surround or if this is a 1pc fiberglass enclosure unit, add $250. If the work is different (sinks, counters, tile work etc.) we will need details and pictures, if you can. We'll get you a quote quickly. Our tubs come with a 5 year warranty, the job can take up to 4-5 hours to do, and cures in 16 hours to use. We use an acrylic urethane called GlassTech9000 and we also do the caulking, when applicable. We've been in business almost 50 years, refinished over 200,000 tubs, and have an A+ rating with the BBB. Call or email if you need any further info. Have a great day, we appreciate your interest! Thanks! Tom

"On a Wednesday NJ Natural Gas found two gas leaks in our basement. One at our hot water heater and one on a corroded pipe at the foundation right inside where the pipe goes out to the meter. The latter was the more severe leak. NJ Natural gas turned our gas off. I called Mastropiero on Thursday morning on the recommendation of a friend. The receptionist was friendly and reassuring in terms of being able to get the work done quickly. A technician was at our house within a few hours. He inspected the two spots, provided a general idea of what would be required, indicated that the work was fairly routine, and that the cost would be under $1000 but a final estimate would be provided later that day. The gas company had thought there would have to be cutting and unions installed along the corroded pipes. Mastropiero however proposed replacing the pipes altogether, certainly saving time. And in terms of the labor costs, money too, I would presume. Later that day an estimate of $750 was given, an estimated 3 hours of work, and the job was scheduled for the following morning, Friday. On Friday, the plumber arrived on schedule and as indicated, replaced the leaking pipes. There's not much more to say than that they did the work promised, on schedule, and at the cost quoted. I feared that a gas leak could be a major problem, but Mastropiero handled so that it was not. NJ Natural Gas had set up our meter so that the plumber could restore service after the job was completed. So within about 36 hours of losing service, we had it back with new pipes less likely to corrode again. NJ Natural Gas came on the following Monday to confirm that the leaks were gone and the work had all been done to code and standards. It was. As our initial experience with them was one of courtesy, professionalism, and results, we will use Mastropiero again without hesitation."

"They reached out immediately via text & did what I needed same day. I was a little nervous about some things but he quickly eased my concerns. The professional that came out and installed my new pump was very nice, listened to what I had to say and did what needed to be done. It was one of the hottest days so I am extremely grateful with how it all turned out."

"While the end result was good, his quote was 100% off. He had told me $500, then it actually came to $1000. I paid for it because it was the result that I needed, but I feel that in this profession you should be able to estimate fairly accurately the work that needs to be done. Then after a while i realized the microwave was not properly installed. I made 3-4 appointments for someone from this company to come fix it, and each time i was stood up without even a text or call to say they weren't coming anymore. I would rush home from work to meet the person and put off my other errands  and then around 10PM have to reach out to them asking where they were. I would get a promise of a different date to have the same thing happen. 1 of the 4 times the person had a flat tire so i can give them some slack for that, but they had said they would call me back to let me know if they were still coming or not, and they did NOT. So again....stood up without knowing what was really happening. No respect for my time, after I had already paid them. Then I get a text saying that I should get a garbage disposal installed so it's "worth that person's time" to come down to fix the microwave. I was really offended by this, since I had already paid good money for the job. I ended up having a different general contractor come and fix the problem, and he fixed it in 5 minutes. Wish I hadn't wasted a week waiting for this company."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

Sauna Installation questions, answered by experts

It will take several hours or more to build a sauna. A prefab kit will take anywhere from three to 20 hours to install, depending on complexity and your skill level. If you’re doing a custom build, it can take more than 50 hours—especially if you need to add ventilation, ductwork, and other renovations.

Both saunas and steam rooms offer some health benefits as well as a good return on investment. While there’s more research on saunas than steam rooms and fewer reported risks with steam rooms, the latter tend to be better for reducing stress. Which one is better depends on the benefits you’re looking for, your budget, and if you have space to build a sauna.

No, you should only choose high-quality wood to build your sauna. Not all types of woods can withstand the pressure from heat or moisture. Only use softwoods, such as cedar and aspen, that are known for absorbing heat and resisting water.

The primary difference between a steam shower and a sauna is the type of heat they produce. A sauna generates dry heat using electricity, while a steam shower creates wet heat from steam, resulting in nearly 100% humidity. A steam shower typically replaces an existing shower, has an opening at the top, and operates at a lower temperature (around 90-120°F) than a sauna, though the high humidity can make it feel just as warm. It is advisable to limit steam sessions to 20 minutes. In contrast, a sauna is a fully enclosed space that can be placed anywhere in a house and produces dry heat.

A home sauna may be considered a luxury item by some homebuyers, which can provide a good return on investment. However, whether it increases your home's value ultimately depends on the buyer, as some may not want to take on the extra costs and maintenance associated with heating and upkeep.
