"It was right before Thanksgiving and they were able to accommodate me. There was a discrepancy with the price. However, I have had so many disappointing experiences, I allowed them to clean my house. They did a thorough cleaning. The workers were obliged to go over a few areas. It was a great experience to have them clean my whole house. The house looks shiny and smells clean, not like perfume or disinfectant! To be honest I think I have found a new house cleaning business in BlueSky!"

House Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Prepare to leave your home for a long absence by making sure small appliances and electronic devices are unplugged. You should also shut valves to your sinks, dishwasher, and washing machine. Set your thermostat closer to outside temperatures or a minimum of 55 degrees Fahrenheit, stop your mail (or have someone pick it up), and put at least one light on a timer.

There are several ways to store clothes properly and keep them smelling good. You can keep clothing in a climate-controlled closet for best results, but if this isn’t in your budget, there are many DIY solutions. From using air freshener sprays to keeping a box of baking soda in the closet, you can eliminate unwanted odors. Always store clean, dry clothes in the closet to minimize odors.

Usually 1-2 hours, depending on gutter length and condition.

No, you should never use isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to clean flat paint or paint with any other finish. Isopropyl alcohol works similarly to a paint thinner, so it’s likely to liquify the paint on your walls and leave damaged or bare areas. For stubborn stains, try mixing one cup of vinegar or baking soda into a bucket of warm water and scrubbing very gently with a soft sponge. If the stain or soiling is pervasive, touch up the area by repainting the affected areas.

You should consider doing a few things on your own that fall under the category of “good house cleaner etiquette” to prepare for your house cleaner. These include tidying counters, floors, and other surfaces, taking care of the dishes, moving laundry to the laundry room or a dedicated laundry basket, and putting away personal and private items. Think of your house cleaner as someone who brings your home from relatively tidy to organized and clean, and you should have no issues.
