"Had 2 tanks pumped grey water and septic. Make sure workers know order and you know where both tanks are before they start digging up yard to find both and they complete job. Phone quote when ordering was actually double what I expected due to 2 tanks and I did not know size of tanks. Not sure it would have been different if worker knew 2 tanks were involved."

"I received a call from Rich within 20 minutes of sending a message to him! When Rich arrived at my home for an estimate later that day, I was very impressed with his professionalism and the way he explained how he was moving forward to repair the leech field of my septic system. He scheduled the job to begin a few days later and as promised he was prompt and stayed in constant communication with me during each day as the job progressed. Rich and his crew were an absolute pleasure to deal with and coming from a person who does not do reviews, I couldn t let the opportunity pass to rave about my experience with Tricon!"

"Dave spent an hour and a half on the outside alone.  He left no stone unturned unless the seller had furniture or boxes in the way.  He had been in the construction business for 30 years, and that was very apparent.  He found things I would have never thought of, and was honest when he found good things as well.  He spent the time to explain and remind me of even the simplest safety things you should do in a home, like hitting the test and reset buttons on outlets once a month.  Apparently they break after a while and don't work at all.  I would definitely recommend Dave!!

"The Yellow Jacket team that performed our bathroom remodel was unmatched. We couldnâ t be happier with the quality of the work and the professionalism of the team that was present every day. Once the company began the work they came every day, all day and didnâ t stop until the work was complete. Throughout the entire process they communicated their progress and any issues that came about. Even to the extent of helping us find products that worked for us. We would highly recommend this company and will be working with them again in the future."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

With so much available information about the ecological effects of cesspools (and their general unpleasantness), it begs the question: Are cesspools legal? In short, sort of. Large-capacity cesspools that serve more than 20 people are completely illegal countrywide. Existing, smaller cesspools are generally allowed as long as they’re not actively polluting. However, new cesspools are illegal to build in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, and many states offer programs to help homeowners with the costs of updating cesspools to modern septic systems.

A mound septic system, when properly maintained, can last between 20 and 25 years on average—though some last longer or malfunction sooner than that. The most important part of maintenance is getting an annual inspection of the vital parts of the system to ensure they’re in proper working order and not too backed up with sewage.

Good news: You’ll naturally increase the bacteria in your septic tank simply by using it. If you want to encourage more good bacteria growth, stop using products and household cleaners that kill bacteria, such as bleach and harsh chemicals. Never flush antibiotics, and make sure only water and waste go down the tube—not paper products, feminine hygiene products, or diapers.

You can cover a septic tank riser with dirt, but it’s not always the best idea. If you have a plastic riser and you bury it, you can easily lose track of it since you won’t be able to find it with a metal detector. Make sure to clearly note where your rise is in your yard so that you’re able to access it easily the next time you or a septic pro needs it. Don’t bury the cover too deep or you could place too much stress on it and make it too difficult to access in the future.

Adding a thin layer of dirt over a septic drain field is fine, especially if soil erosion has occurred. However, adding too much dirt can compact the soil, reducing the drain field’s ability to absorb and filter wastewater properly. Avoid using heavy clay soil, as it can prevent proper drainage. Instead, use a light layer of topsoil and plant grass to help with soil stability.
