"1st and Goal Pest Control did a great job. Chris was able to come quickly to remove a bird from one of my vents. He was polite, explained every step of the process that he was going to complete along with price and cleaned up everything when he was done. Most importantly he removed the bird and completed the needed steps to prevent birds from accessing any of my vents again."

"This company is very responsive and professional.   It's been six months and I have had no issues of mice or any other bugs.  I signed up for the annual service and they call every three months to schedule an appointment without me having to chase them down to do it.   I am very happy with their customer service, service provided, the professionalism of their technicians, and value for money paid.

"

Recently I found a dead fox in one of my feral cat houses.  After checking on Angie's List I called this vendor the morning I discovered it.  He gave me the price over the phone and his nephew arrived two hours later to removed the animal.  His nephew was very professional and polite.  I really appreciated their prompt and courteous response.  Hope this never happens again, but if I ever need this type of service in the future I would definitely call them.

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Look for goose repellents that contain the ingredient methyl anthranilate. This is a natural chemical found in grape juice. In human food, it’s often used as grape flavoring. With geese, it’s highly irritating. Grape Kool-Aid contains methyl anthranilate, the active ingredient in most bird repellents. It won’t harm geese, but it will deter them.

Rabbits face a range of formidable adversaries in rural and suburban areas. Natural predators such as hawks, foxes, bobcats, raccoons, coyotes, and weasels pose significant threats to their survival. These skilled hunters target bunnies for food, contributing to regulating rabbit populations. Outdoor housepets can be enemies, too, particularly dogs and cats. And loud little humans playing in your yard make great rabbit deterrents, too.

Some of the plants listed above, like daffodils, are poisonous to many animals if eaten. But wild animals instinctively avoid them, for the most part. Household pets don’t always have the same survival instinct, which is why it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with common plants that pose a danger to cats and dogs.

When woodpeckers start banging on your walls or roof, they are probably looking for insects to eat, storing nuts for winter, drilling a hole to make a nest, or communicating with other birds to establish territory or find a mate.

The size of the hole can help determine the reason for the pecking. Small irregular holes are a result of insect hunts. Acorn holes are more consistently sized and often fitted with a nut in the middle. Nest holes are large and have rounded edges. If the bird is pecking to mark its territory or attract a mate, it may leave dents rather than holes, and the noise will stop when the mating season starts in spring.

The cost of pest control services depends on various factors, but the average homeowner pays around $175, with a typical range of $100 to $500. Your final cost will be influenced by the type of pest, the size and severity of the infestation, and the number of treatments needed.

Service costs also vary by frequency:

  • One-time service: $300–$550

  • Initial visit for ongoing service: $150–$300

  • Monthly visits: $40–$70

  • Quarterly visits: $100–$300

  • Annual visits: $300–$550

For specific pest examples, getting rid of spiders typically costs between $100 and $300, whereas a termite infestation can cost from $230 to $2,500 or more, depending on the extent of the damage.
