"Chris Apgar and Zach Murray from Patio Enclosures, Bensalem, PA finished installing a 3-season room at our home last week. We want to recognize them for the great job they on this project. Their attention to detail and pride in workmanship are the best we have seen. Their dedication to Customer Satisfaction is commendable; both are real assets to the Patio Enclosures organization. We really enjoyed working with Chris, Zach, and the rest of the Patio Enclosures team during planning and installation of this room."

"Billy did 2 jobs for us. We initially hired him to install new laminate floors, and the work was so good that we also hired him to refurbish an old patio door. Billy does outstanding work with amazing attention to detail, takes a lot of pride in his work, gets the job completely done to the last detail, and went out of his way to accommodate us in terms of schedule and managing dogs in the house. We have an older home and he was expert in solving for the uniques challenges of that. He is honest, reliable and trustworthy. I highly recommend him to anyone, and we in fact plan to hire him again for additional projects in the future."

Small jobs welcome

"Wow! Can't say enough good things about Angel and his crew. We had a small job that turned into a big job after the team discovered our entire patio was structurally unsound. They got the job done in record time and the work is first rate. His team couldn't be nicer. They kept the site immaculately clean, were quiet and professional. Entirely trustworthy."

"We met with a number of contractors and we didn't feel any of them understood what we were trying to accomplish. When we met with Joe not only did he get the idea right away but was patient with us and explained every step of the process. When his crew showed up they were the most professional and hard working crew my wife and i ever experienced. The job came out nicer than we could have ever imagined and look forward to hiring Joe on our future projects. We highly recommend Joe to anyone looking to have a pleasant and professional job done at a great price and completed by the deadline."

Patios questions, answered by experts

Prefab kits like a small sunroom for around $20,000 or even a basic gazebo roof for as little as $60 can save you big over professional installation. However, you lose the option for customization, and these structures tend not to last nearly as long. As for bigger projects like a deck or patio, you shouldn’t go with the DIY route unless you’re fully prepped with the tools and know-how to get it done right. Mistakes can be frustrating and costly, so choose a pro if you’re looking to eliminate your risk of error.

Yes, porches require foundations. The type of foundation required, however, is determined by the type and use of the porch. For example, a screened-in porch won’t require a new cement foundation. However, if you turn your porch into a sunroom or plan on making it a living space, then chances are you need a foundation that’s more permanent than piers and posts.

Yes, but ensuring the deck has a solid foundation with adequate footings is critical before building, as the weight of a sunroom will put significant pressure on the structure below. Even if your deck is properly constructed, it may not be able to handle the extra weight. While some basic, lightweight, prefabricated sunrooms can sit on a deck with a strong existing foundation without additional supports, in many cases, the foundation and joists will need reinforcement. It is always best to have a structural engineer perform an inspection to evaluate the deck's quality and structural integrity. A professional can help you decide if reinforcement is sufficient or if it's better to tear down the deck and start over.

Yes, a sunroom will require a permit. You may just need a general construction permit for a screened-in porch or solarium. For a three-season room with electricity and a four-season room with electric, heating, and cooling, you’ll need additional permits for each of the utilities, as well as a roofing permit.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it meets certain criteria. For instance, it must be completely enclosed with solid walls and a roof. It should also have a heating and cooling source similar to the rest of the home. Finally, the porch should have direct access to and from the interior of your house.
