"I had removed the carpet from my stairs so I could stain and refinish them. Then building contractors had got a lot of paint on the steps. I needed to remove the paint before I could stain and finish them. In the process of removing the paint and staining and finishing them, I got stain on the sides and some paint came off when I removed the tape. I tried painting the sides myself but was getting paint on the steps. I decided to get a professional and went with Eagles Painting. Flavio came when he said he would and did an excellent job. He was professional and very polite. I would definitely use him in the future for all my painting needs."

"Eric from WePaint is great. I had pine doors and poplar wood trim that were poorly stained (by myself). Eric came and stripped the doors and poplar, restained all the wood, and put a coat of poly on it all. Very thorough and detaile orientated (like myself) - his hard work removing all the of layers of old stain was great. He salvaged a really poor staining job that I did. Would definitely recommend, friendly and funny guy too. Knows his stuff. Would definitely have Eric do more work. A pleasure."

"Noel and his assistant Dave were excellent. They painted the house, fence and all our outdoor wrought iron furniture. Their price was beyond fair. They were professional yet friendly. They went over and above their contract. We are so pleased with them that any further painting to be done in our home will be without question Noel’s company."

Small jobs welcome

"Mike with Moxie Home Projects was great to work with! We just had our laundry room and very outdated master bathroom painted. I am so happy with the outcome! Both rooms look fresh and sleek! He was clean and professional. Very knowledgable. He had great advice to help us with picking out the right colors which really helped make our small laundry room appear larger. He even helped us with hanging up our new shelving unit! Looks like a brand new room! We will definitely be using Moxie Home Projects for our future home renovation needs! Thank you Mike for your hard work!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

Pricing depends on prep work, paint/stain choice, area size, scaffolding needs, and detailed trim inclusions like precision-balanced windowsills.

It’s best to prime composite decking before painting. This promotes better paint adhesion, helps create a smooth finish, and can mean the paint job will last longer. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application, allow ample primer drying time before painting (typically 24 to 48 hours), and thoroughly clean the deck boards to promote the best adhesion.

Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.

If you have a smooth, already bonded concrete surface, painting a concrete pool deck can be a great way to brighten up the area and add longevity. If the surface has another covering or a different type of paint has been used previously, you won’t be able to paint it without removing the existing coating. Wooden decks benefit from painting as it helps to keep them watertight. Quality pool deck paints also help make the surface less slippery and less likely to gather mold and mildew or prematurely crack.
