"All work was competently and expertly done to our complete satisfaction over 9 working days; at the end of each day the working areas were left cleaned and vacuumed; the work was carried out in accordance with the initial estimate and time frame without interruption.
The entire process from iniial estimate to completion was totally professional and we would readily recommend Mr. DeVivo and A+ Professional Painting without reservation.

"You can't do better, in my opinion. Price is reasonable and quality of work is very high. They took care of wallpaper removal, popcorn ceiling removal, drywall repair and painted my entire place. Howard and his team are extremely reliable, detailed, thorough and clean. He doesn't overcharge and did an amazing job removing the popcorn ceilings from my entire place - which has sloped, high and angled ceilings with various cuts - and his estimate for that portion of the work was much lower than anyone else's."

"It was a difficult project requiring the removal of current siding, then significant patching, sanding and carpentry to prepare the original clapboard for paint. The crew was very hard working and super creative when it came to solving problems. They showed up on time every day and finished the project according to schedule. The price was very reasonable and no surprise charges. We are very pleased with AAA and would highly recommend them."

"I highly recommend Hector at HJ painting. He worked on our house for the past two weeks and I have nothing but incredibly positive things to say about him. On top of being extremely professional, trustworthy, and a pleasure to work with, he's got great attention to detail and his work is impeccable. We interviewed two different painters whose estimates were pretty comparable and we chose HJ painting because we liked the idea of a family business where the owner would be the one painting our house. He hasn't let us down for a second! Our house looks amazing and we're so thankful we found him!

Wallpaper Removal FAQs, answered by experts

When comparing peel-and-stick and traditional wallpaper, the better choice depends on your specific needs and space. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is more budget-friendly and easier to DIY install. On the other hand, traditional wallpaper lasts much longer and holds up better in a wider variety of spaces, including areas with moisture like kitchens and bathrooms.

While you can remove wallpaper yourself, it is a labor-intensive process that risks damaging your walls. Common DIY methods include using a steamer to loosen the adhesive or spraying the paper with a solution of hot water and vinegar or dish soap before scraping. However, steamers can cause irreparable damage if used incorrectly, and the spray-and-scrape method can harm drywall if it gets too wet or you scrape too aggressively. For these reasons, hiring a professional is often the fastest, easiest, and safest option. A pro has the experience and specialized tools to remove wallpaper efficiently without damaging the underlying surface, which saves time and minimizes the prep work needed for your next wall treatment.

Small amounts of wallpaper can be thrown away in your household trash. If you’re removing a whole home’s worth of wallpaper, you may need to contact a waste removal company, rent a dumpster, or schedule a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste removal service. Wallpaper isn’t recyclable, so no matter which method you choose to dispose of it, make sure it doesn’t get mixed in with the recycling.

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.
