"The staff at Home Insulation Experts, Inc are very knowledgeable and willing to explain how and why certain methods/processes are used. They spent the time necessary for preparation and cleanup to the extent that even the drywallers were impressed. The crew was quick, efficient, and courteous. We will ABSOLUTELY hire them again for any insulation needs"
"Mike initially came and looked over the property. He advised me what he could do and what was needed. I told him I would only be doing part of what he suggested at this time and he had no problem with my plan and gave me two invoices---one for the exterior walls and one for the attic. He was excellent in explaining what was needed and could not have been nicer and more patient. A few days after I accepted the bid, his crew arrived. They could not have been more professional or nicer. The crew foreman took the time to explain to me what they were doing and answered all my questions. By the end of the day, the job was finished. The project could not have gone more smoothly. I simply cannot properly express how pleased I was with Mike and his crew. I plan to engage Acorn next year to insulate my attic and I would have no reservation about recommending them to anyone.
"This was an amazing process which I was anxious about doing. Everything went smoothly and it was done in a timely manner. David was professional and he explained the process. His team worked hard . Plastic liner was laid down to protect the carpet. The old insulation was taken away. An estimate was given. I had to reschedule the cleanup date; there was no problem."
"RetroFoam of Michigan deserves more than five stars. The representative who gave me an estimate was prompt and professional. The office staff who called to tell me installers were ahead of schedule was kind and courteous as I answered during a busy day at work. The crew who came to insulate my garage was extraordinary. They made sure my garage was left clean. They even mopped the garage floor before they left! The crew leader explained the process of insulating with foam and exactly how the holes in my walls would be patched before the team left. I am an educator of 30 years and a licensed builder. I've remodeled and flipped homes and have rental units. I'm used to swinging a hammer alongside others. This company is made up of hard-working people who charge a fair price and do exceptional work. I have advice for those that run the company - take care of your installation crews! They are exceptional! If you've read this far and are interested in having your house/garage insulated give them a call now. You will be happy you did. Now...I'm looking forward to enjoying a warm man-cave garage on cold nights!"
"We couldn't be more pleased with Acorn's services. We had insulation blown in from the outside, as well as our attic done, and we feel a huge difference. The team that came to our house to do our insulation, Nate, Rajan and TJ, was the best! They were incredibly friendly, polite, and most importantly - thorough, both in the job that they did and also in tidying up. We can't say enough good things!"

Small patches can be DIY, but professionals handle large-scale repairs with seamless results.
There are several benefits to wet-sanding drywall, but the main perk is that it produces far less dust than dry-sanding. As a result, wet-sanding poses fewer health risks and makes less of a mess in your home. Plus, damp sponges are less abrasive than sandpaper, so there’s a smaller chance of scratching or damaging the drywall paper. Wet-sanding also creates a smoother finish than dry-sanding.
The tool you use to sand plaster will depend on the size of the project. If you’re just working on a small section of your wall to get rid of an uneven spot on the surface, hand-sanding might work. However, for larger projects, a drywall sander can make a huge difference when it comes to both time and elbow grease—and an orbital sander can help for detailed areas such as around ceiling fans.
If your home was built before the 1940s and was not remodeled in the past 50 or so years, you probably have plaster walls. Aside from assuming, there are some practical ways to tell if you have plaster walls, including the following: If you knock on the wall and it feels solid, not hollow, if you can’t insert a thumbtack easily, if there are cracks that look like spiderwebs, or if your home has curved, arched, or swirled walls, doorways, or window openings.
If you have an unfinished basement or attic, you could examine the backs of any finished walls to check, too.
To maintain plaster walls, inspect them regularly for cracks and seal them early. Clean the walls by dusting regularly or using a gentle, damp cloth. It's also important to avoid moisture exposure. Repainting as needed will help maintain the wall's appearance and longevity.
