"Called three people to solve a mouse problem and very glad chose Alex. He responded promptly on a weekend and was only one that went into crawl space to really see where activty was. He took the longest inspecting the foundation and showed me where there were gaps that needed to be sealed. Very thorough in the house as well. Not most inexpensive, but think was definitely the best option to control the mice. Highly reccomend."

"GREAT SERVICE! very professional and organized technicians. they came in took their time figured out a plan. They put a lot of bait in a small black box in the perimeter of my kitchen where I mostly seen the mice at night. So far it's been working, it's been about two months and they followed up with service twice and I am seeing less mouse activity and no more droppings of mice poop."

"I noticed there were several wasps flying in and out of my roof eave. I contacted Arkadia Pest Control because they have an A rating and over 100 review on Angie’s List. I requested to have the wasps in my attic exterminated. A technical arrived the following day. The technician explained his plan of attack in detail. He answered all of my questions and addressed all of my safety concerns. He was able to quickly locate the nest in the attic. Not only did the technician kill the wasps he removed the entire nest from the attic to dispose of it. At my request, the technician filled the void in the attic with gap filler at no extra change! Arkadia pest control fee includes a 3 month warranty which is generous. If I encounter any pest in the future I will contact Arcadia again."

"Noticed some minute holes and fine wood powder gradually being deposited at the base of the wall of the living room which was coming from the baseboard. Assumed they were termites. Contacted 5 pest control exterminators including 3 from the list provided by homeadvisor.com. Each of them examined the area in question and gave a price quote for remediation. One of the 5 identified the residue as coming from termites, another said they were from carpenter ants. Three of the 5 identified the pests as post powder beetles. One took samples of the powder and pieces of the wooden baseboard and said he would have their in-house entomologist examine it to make an absolute determination. But he never got back to me. Another said for certain that it was post powder beetles and provided a remediation cost. Anthony from Eastern Pest Control also identified the critters as post powder beetles but he said that there were 2 types or species which he mentioned. One type would continue to spread while the other type is most likely not to spread beyond where they were currently. He took a lot of samples and said he was taking them to Rutgers Entomology lab to have them identified properly. He called me back after about 5 days later and said he was not successful with his Rutgers contact but was able to have his entomologist contact in NY to identify it. It was the contagious type and he provided a price for the remediation. Eastern Pests' price was reasonable. I discussed the type of treatment with him at length and did my own research online. We agreed on the type of pesticide and application method. I had the walls opened by a contractor/carpenter and Anthony came back to proceed with the remediation treatment. He was thorough in treating all the surrounding area with the pesticide. I was very pleased with Anthony and Eastern Pest Control. He took the extra step to properly identify the cause of the problem. He gave a reasonable price for remediation and was very thorough in treating the area with the pesticide. Would highly recommend Anthony with Eastern."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Natural swimming pools are designed to deter pests, including mosquitoes. While any body of water can potentially attract pests, the natural filtration system keeps the water clean and constantly moving. Mosquitoes specifically are attracted to standing water, so the continuously circulating water in a natural pool makes it an inhospitable environment for them.

Trees that provide a habitat to bats and an abundance of bugs—their main food source—will attract bats to your yard. Because the North American landscape has changed so much in recent years, bats have a harder time finding trees with cavities to shelter in. If your yard has a dead or dying tree with a lot of sun exposure, bats will likely be drawn to it because trees with those features are less common.

To keep animals out, you must prevent them from entering. As long as they can get in, the problem will persist. That said, consider making your attic less inviting using deterrents like motion-activated lights or ultrasonic devices. Additionally, keeping a well-maintained, clean, and uncluttered attic that you regularly inspect for activity may make the space less attractive to critters.

You can take multiple approaches to keep animals out of your edible landscape. You can use natural repellents such as mint and cayenne pepper to deter them from your garden. You can also build a fence (or opt for a privet hedge) or keep the most enticing plants in a sectioned-off area. The most efficient method of keeping your four-legged guests at bay is to determine what animal it is and create a customized plan for them.

No, you shouldn’t have to worry about bats in your yard as long as they don’t make their way inside your house. Typically, bats hang around backyards in order to consume bugs, especially if they’re located in the U.S. Bats that are native to North America can consume more than 500 bugs per hour, so they may actually benefit your yard if mosquitoes are prevalent.
