"John worked to replace a window that seemed to have cracked because of pressure applied to the glass (expanding/contracting maybe, no direct hit to the glass itself). He explained the process and the timeline and worked to follow it as close as possible. Would use his services again if I need work on glass/windows."

"Bo is the absolute nicest contractor we have ever met. He was great at explaining what repairs needed to be done and exactly how he was going to tackle them. We hired Bo for grout repair, caulking/sealing and to fix our glass shower door. His work is meticulous, our corner shower looks new again and Bo addressed our biggest concerns about preventing water from leaking to the first floor ceiling. Will only hire Bo for this work go-forward and will recommend to anyone I can."

"My sister and I hired Magnolia Home Remodeling Group for a roofing job this summer. The work was pretty extensive as our old roof had to be completely removed and replaced. Magnolia did an excellent job! The workers were quick, professional, and cleaned up well at the end of each day. Vic at Magnolia worked along with us every step of the way and was very responsive whenever we emailed or called him. Great customer service is clearly important to them and something I truly appreciate. Our new roof is so beautiful and we're glad we chose Magnolia."

"We needed some restructuring of our existing kitchen cabinets to fit a new larger oven. Cesar and his crew did a great, high-quality job, and they were very professional and courteous. I also appreciated that they worked with drop cloths and cleaned up carefully after the job was done. Would definitely recommend!"

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Smart glass doesn’t use a lot of electricity, and you can expect a standard window to add between $1 and $2 per year to your electric bills. Smart glass is proof that energy-efficient windows work. Although your smart windows may consume a little energy to operate, they can save enough energy to offset the costs. If you’re concerned about the minimal bump to your electricity consumption, you can opt for smart tint, which doesn’t require electricity to work.

Prior to the middle part of the 1900s, glass manufacturers used a technique that involved blowing glass into cylinder shapes that were then flattened out to create sheets used for windows and doors. This technique often left behind ripples and inconsistencies in the glass.

Yes. Vinyl windows have a PVC frame that wraps around a glass panel that is usually made up of two thinner glass panels separated by an insulating, noise-absorbing airspace. Some vinyl windows are triple-glazed, with three insulating air panels within them. This glass helps keep your interior quiet from outside noise while its insulating qualities help your space stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Cutting glass yourself can be dangerous, as the edges are sharp and can easily cause lacerations if you’re not careful. Working with larger pieces of glass is especially dangerous, as they can be cumbersome and difficult to handle without shattering. If you’re uncomfortable doing the work yourself, you can hire a professional to get the job done safely.

While wavy glass is sometimes called antique glass or restoration glass due to the fact that it's found exclusively in older homes, the proper names for wavy glass are actually crown glass and cylinder glass. Most commonly used for circular or portal windows, crown glass was created by manufacturers using a process of blowing and spinning. Meanwhile, cylinder glass was used more commonly because it created large square sheets that could be shaped to fit windows of all shapes and sizes.
