40+ years experience in woodworking and design (90% self-employed)...(YES!!!...i'm old enough) My Grandfather started teaching me at 6 yrs. old...i'm 64 now. I'm a ONE-man shop, (full-time) No longer build houses, but have been doing cabinets and furniture , restoring antique's and repair of furniture for the last 25 years. I have a degree in architecture (NO LICENSE)...(as I chose woodworking instead)(sometimes I wonder!!...lol) If I can't do it, I probably know someone who can! (I imagine that I can tho) Call if you want to talk about a project or a problem, and I am willing to help or point you in the right direction!! I also have (recently) been doing a lot of ROT repair(NON STRUCTURAL)...e.g. ---windows , doors, railings, decks etc) I can repair, replace, or manufacture as needed! Don't have capabilities / equipment for sills and foundations etc...(sorry) THINGS I DO NOT DO!!!!: ---drywall...of any kind ---roofing repair ---painting / scraping etc. ---NO OUTSIDE WORK ...from NOV. 1 till April 15...(unless you have a LOT of money!!!!...(lol)....(i love my shop, it is home) I'll talk to you about anything you need, and if I can do it, I will!!! If I can't (or don't want too)..I will do my best to find you someone who can, or is willing!! (don't really know what more I can offer?) THANKS FOR YOUR TIME READING !!!!!! Call if you think I can help!!! ........................Larry................

Furniture Reupholstery questions, answered by experts

Part of the beauty of academia decor is that most textures and materials will feel right at home, provided they’re dark. Some common textures include natural wood, dark metals like iron, velvet, and leather. Incorporating these into your dark academia decor will make them look right at home. Glass is another option in some cases, so fill in gaps in your decor with small glass jars, or really lean on the gothic roots of dark academia with stained glass.

Upholstering allows personalization, extends furniture life, conserves resources, refreshes decor, and often costs less than buying new pieces.

The best way to test the quality of a leather couch is to put your hands on it. If the upholstery is soft and warm, that’s a good indication that the quality is higher. It should also smell like traditional leather. If it smells like chemicals, you’re probably dealing with low-grade leather.

Regular vacuuming, spot cleaning, and protecting surfaces from sun exposure prevents wear and fading, preserving longevity.

You can make your dining room look more expensive using one or more of several methods. If you're remodeling, you can consider raising the ceiling height, installing an elegant chandelier, or redoing the floor. For smaller renovations, consider changing the paint color to a deep and rich tone, such as burgundy or emerald. You can also swap out the table and chairs to achieve a richer appearance.
