"Charlie did a great job installing my new 55" TV. This TV was replacing my old 65" TV. He also disposed of the old one for me. I would highly recommend Charlie as a handyman! I'm very happy with his work! I plan on hiring him again in the near future to do some other small jobs for me."

"These guys came after hours. I d submitted a request because my oil filled radiator in my bedroom had shorted out, starting a fire, and I was fearful of using that outlet. They came and fixed the problem, plus two other outlets. They hurried out because they thought it was my oven that was out and as Thanksgiving is nearing, thought I was needing to be cooking! Very personable and proficient! I highly recommend them."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

One of the best ways to know your chimney is good to go on any given night is to simply look up into your flue with a flashlight. If you see a thick buildup of creosote—a shiny, dark substance that looks like tar—it’s best to have your fireplace professionally cleaned before you go ahead with the burn. Additionally, having your fireplace professionally inspected once per year can also help increase your peace of mind and keep your family and your home safe.

Certified fire door inspectors should inspect fire doors. These professionals receive training to specifically assess the condition, functionality, and compliance of fire doors. They often hold credentials from groups like the Door and Hardware Institute (DHI) or the International Fire Door Inspector Association (IFDIA). While fire marshals won’t usually do hands-on inspections, they’ll check that doors are being maintained properly during routine safety audits. If a building relies on fire doors for code compliance, it needs someone who understands the details—the difference between a cosmetic issue and a safety failure—and standards to sign off with confidence.

Most homeowners put a layer of compact sand or gravel at the bottom of their firepit, but you can also choose more decorative options like fire-resistant paving stones, bricks, or fire pit glass. Dirt by itself can even work, but other materials do a better job of spreading the heat around.

Yes. Even when it’s not in use, an outlet is still connected to wiring, and if the wiring is faulty or wet, a fire can occur. Broken outlets can also cause fires, for the same reasons; in fact, most broken outlets are broken due to damaged or worn-out wiring. It’s worth replacing outlets that are old or damaged with the help of an electrician.

While your forced heating system runs, it can pick up dirt, dust, hair, and other particles from inside your house. Changing your furnace filters regularly is key to preventing this debris from getting stuck in your ducts and swirling around your home. With some types of furnaces, there’s also the potential for carbon monoxide leaks. However, staying up-to-date with your HVAC inspections and installing carbon monoxide sensors can help mitigate this risk.
