Customers say: True professional

"JY paving is upstanding, trustworthy, professional, and highly skilled. The job being a 250ft driveway with two car turn around multiple curves and driveway water run-off pitch, was done with excellent fluidity blending to concrete sidewalk and parking concrete slab, Even with a 10 wheel dump truck breakdown still finished the job on time, and the crew while waiting built a rock base curving with back pitch at bottom of driveway going above and beyond, still honoring a 1&1/2 year old price quote saving thousands from 2022 quotes."

"Chris did an excellent job! I got many different quotes through companies from Google and HomeAdvisor but felt Chris could do the job the best. He took out an old walkway, built a new walkway down a different area in my front yard then added a new retaining wall and granite steps from my driveway to my front door. He also put in a circle kit near my front door and put in a granite mailbox post. Everything came out perfect! Chris is a very hard worker, great communicator and I am very satisfied with the work he did. I would hire him again!"

"They did an excellent job. Put a threshold drain in front of a sliding door to my patio. They had to remove pavers, install a 4 inch pipe across the lawn and replace the pavers and sod. Hard workers did a really good job."

"Back to black is a very knowledgeable about his job. He did my driveway widen it tarted dug all the old dirt out, reused it another part of my property for me as a matter fact, and then proceeded to my sisters driveway, which is more like a road and put Bluestone down after he went in the driveway made it more level so much easier more to plow took out a corner for me and made a turnaround for my sister and filled it in so itâ s not as muddy. He knows what heâ s doing drain offs I was like really impressed."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

To ensure you hire a reliable and experienced paving company, you should start by finding companies in your area that have at least five to ten years of experience working in your neighborhood. Next, rule out companies with poor reviews online or a series of complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. Since driveways affect your curb appeal, you should also ask each company for references and pictures of recent work to make sure the work the company does is professional and high quality. Finally, check that the company is licensed and insured.

The choice between asphalt and concrete depends on your priorities, budget, and climate.

Concrete is generally more durable, lasting up to 50 years with minimal upkeep, and offers more customization options like staining and stamping, which can add more to a home's value. However, it is more expensive upfront and can be prone to cracking in cold climates where water can freeze and expand.

Asphalt is typically cheaper and quicker to install and is easier to repair. It performs better in colder climates. However, it requires more maintenance, including regular resealing, has a shorter lifespan, and can get hot and sticky in intense sunlight.

Ultimately, if durability and long-term value are key, concrete is often the better choice. If upfront cost and performance in cold weather are more important, asphalt may be preferable.

Professionals restore the surface to a fresh, attractive finish by applying a new, even sealant layer.

The cost to pour a driveway apron depends on the material and size. Concrete costs $3 to $10 per square foot, asphalt ranges from $2 to $5, and pavers are $5 to $15 per square foot. Additional expenses, like excavation, base material, and labor, can increase the total cost. For example, a standard 12x15-foot concrete apron could cost between $540 and $1,800, depending on local rates and additional work required. Always consult a local driveway paving contractor to get an accurate estimate tailored to your project.

The material that’s best for your private road depends on your property, the climate in your area, and your personal preferences. Gravel is an affordable option, but some homeowners don’t like how it looks. It can be a pain to remove snow from, and it requires more ongoing maintenance than asphalt or concrete. However, while these other options require less maintenance and make snow removal a breeze, they’re more expensive and will need repairs from time to time. Ultimately, you’ll have to choose the road material that suits you and your property best.
