"We contacted Groundworks, LLC, Colorado Springs, to stabilize and raise our garage foundation wall, as we were unable to raise and lower our garage door effectively. Groundworks crew installed five helical peers and attempted to raise our foundation wall; unfortunately, the crew was unsuccessful. We contacted Erick B., the supervisor, and asked him to come to our home location and discussed our concerns and requested another attempt to raise the foundation wall. Erick agreed and scheduled the appointment. We requested the same crew, as they were very courteous and respectful; they arrived with more appropriate equipment and were able to raise our foundation wall to our satisfaction. We would recommend Groundworks, LLC, as they went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction with the job. Thank you, Angel S, Joseph A, Jose M and Brayan N. for your courtesy and your excellent work ethic. We appreciate you!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Homes in established Scottsbluff neighborhoods built before 1970 are excellent candidates for masonry work like tuckpointing. Properties with poured concrete or block basement foundations benefit greatly from crack repair and waterproofing. Elevated bluff-side homes with stable soil and mature landscaping provide ideal conditions for new retaining walls. However, active foundation movement or location in a flood zone requires addressing underlying structural issues first.

Helpful?

Combining masonry work with other exterior upgrades is a smart strategy in Scottsbluff. The local climate creates a narrow window for exterior projects between late April and October. High winds also complicate staging and scaffolding. Pair your masonry repairs with drainage improvements, basement waterproofing, or wall insulation upgrades. Completing these tasks together under a single permit maximizes efficiency and minimizes disruptions to your daily routine.

Helpful?

Scottsbluff sits on loess and clay soils that shift under foundations, complicating structural masonry work. Homes near the North Platte River floodplain face moisture challenges. Additionally, Nebraska requires a 36-inch frost depth for footings to prevent frost heave during cold winters. Older homes built between the 1920s and 1960s require specialized lime-based mortar to prevent accelerating damage. Hire a local professional to navigate these structural challenges safely.

Helpful?

Stair-step cracks in brick and spalling faces from frequent freeze-thaw cycles require immediate masonry work. Conversely, horizontal basement cracks point to lateral soil pressure requiring structural wall anchors. White salt deposits on your brick indicate moisture issues, meaning you must fix your drainage system alongside masonry repairs. Stucco cracking on wood-framed walls is a siding issue. Consult a NE contractor to diagnose the exact problem.

Helpful?

Completing structural masonry work significantly boosts resale appeal in the NE real estate market. Buyers prioritize structural soundness over cosmetic upgrades. Repairing foundation cracks, tuckpointing, and fixing chimneys proves your home withstands the region's intense freeze-thaw cycles and high winds. Securing proper permits and documenting all inspections provides clear evidence of proper maintenance, giving buyers confidence and supporting a strong asking price.
