"I had a fantastic experience with RG Drywall! Celeste and Ramon came in to drywall a wall in my bathroom and did such a clean, precise job that I didn't hesitate to ask them to handle the drywall around a window as well. They were incredibly friendly, accommodating with the last-minute addition, and knocked it out without any issues. The finished walls look perfectly smooth, they cleaned up beautifully leaving no mess, and their professionalism made the whole process completely stress-free. Their pricing is very fair and just great. They are now my go-to contractors for any work in my house, and I would recommend them to anybody without hesitation. They are excellent."

"Fermin reached out to me and met with me the very same day I requested drywall services. He started working the very next day and worked every day until the job was done. He was very professional and on time. I was originally quoted $3500 for the job but Fermin did it for less than half of that and also did a quality job! The new drywall looks great and is ready to paint! I would highly recommend Fermin for anyone looking for drywall services. Price is reasonable, quality is excellent, and very professional!"

"Absolute Finishing was professional. They removed an old stove top and an oven built into the cupboards and left space for a new range. They were always friendly with explanations and went beyond expectations when unexpected problems with the project came up. I recommend them highly."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Whether you apply the drywall mesh before or after drywall mud depends on the type of patch it is. For self-adhesive patches, you’ll put the patch down first and then coat it with mud. Mesh patches that are not self-adhesive will require you to put mud down first and then press the mesh into it, followed by additional coats of mud.

If you don’t have studs in the area where you want to install your TV mount, you may still be able to install a TV mount on drywall. The easiest way to install a mount on drywall is by using drywall anchors—but not just any plastic anchors. Choose molly bolts or toggle anchors, which have a weight capacity of around 50 pounds. For added support, consider pairing drywall anchors with a wall mounting plate. Extra heavy TVs may need to be mounted via the ceiling joists or beams.

The easiest way to cut holes in drywall for electrical boxes is to use a spiral saw with a drywall router bit. Hang the drywall without cutting out a hole for the box, but make sure you measure and mark where the box is located on the wall. Once you screw in the drywall sheet, drill a small hole into the box void, insert the spiral saw bit, and move it around the edge of the box using the inside wall as a guide. You can also use an oscillating multi-tool with an electrical box cutout for fast, professional results.

Installing or repairing plaster on ceilings differs slightly from performing the same motions on a wall. You’ll apply slightly less plaster to lower the overall weight of the ceiling. Wall texturing is common, whereas most ceilings are smooth plaster. Tough coat plaster is strong, meaning you can use less while retaining a solid surface.

Yes, it matters which side of drywall you use. One side is smooth, and the other is rough. The smooth side should be facing outward, toward the room, while the rough side should be hidden and facing the studs and framing of the house. The smooth side will be easier to apply tape, joint compound, and, later, paint to.
