At Lawful Rogue Lockouts LLC I specialize in non-destructive entry and bypassing of locks. I do my best to stay up to date on all tools, techniques, and breakthroughs made in my industry when it comes to home, auto, and commercial lockouts. The last thing anyone wants is for their lock to be damaged or broken during a lockout or to have to pay for a replacement lock with no notice. I have a very large list of tools that I go through before I ever even consider using a drill or any other form of destructive entry. I've climbed through home windows and car trunks and squeezed through packed garages and sheds all to avoid damage to a customer's property. I come from a background of working in a full-service locksmith shop so I can certainly perform a variety of services, but lockouts remain my favorite and preferred service. I love helping those in need and outsmarting locks in any way possible.

I have been doing Remodel work for over 25 years I work by myself so you will get a very good job. You will receive a printed copy of your estimate describing the work to be done and the cost, and I always ask for 50 percent down on my contract before the job will be done.

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Keyless locks are great for convenience, letting you unlock doors with a code or your phone so you don't need to carry keys around. They also often come with helpful features like temporary codes for guests. On the downside, they can be more costly up front and do require batteries that will eventually need replacing. If you value ease of use and additional security features, keyless locks are worth the investment.

The good news is that, yes, you can change locks yourself. Many people find it’s an easy DIY project that requires few tools and not much expense (depending on which lock you’re installing). If you have trouble with any part of an installation, you can always call a locksmith to help finish installing them.

Thieves can open almost anything with enough time and the right tools, but they also prefer easy targets that are unlikely to get them caught. Forcing open gates is loud and difficult, and to be able to open one electronically requires extensive knowledge of the system, which most thieves don't have. Electric and other security gates are great deterrents because the thief will move to an easier target. If the thief is determined to enter your property, they will most likely find a different entrance point.

Lubricating a door lock is an important part of door lock maintenance. It involves taking the lubricant of your choice (it’s best to use whatever the lock’s manufacturer suggests) and spraying it directly into the keyway. Push and pull your key in and out of the lock to make sure it’s all the way in.

Expect to pay between $50 to $200 if you hire a locksmith to change your locks. That figure includes labor and the cost of basic hardware. The cost will naturally be higher if you plan to install more expensive locks, like smart locks, and if you need a lot of them.

Homeowners can save money by replacing locks themselves. A typical rekeying kit costs about $10 to $25. The only additional cost is purchasing new house keys, and those are no more than a few dollars per key. If you want to replace the locks on your own completely, the main cost is the price of the locks themselves. A standard knob-style lock starts around $25, while electronic locks and smart locks will run in the hundreds of dollars. The only additional tools you should need are a tape measure, screwdriver, and screws if they are not already provided.
