"All's well that ends well, said the poet, and the same goes for our experience with BDM's window cleaning service. The first attempt did not go well with an inexperienced crew getting most of the windows only half clean (double-hung windows--four sides need to be cleaned, not just two). Tramayne came out the next day to educate the crew and the job was finished expeditiously, with all the windows gleaming brightly, clear and clean as can be. We were well satisfied."

"Anthony was extremely professional, polite, a very hard worker, and constantly made sure that we were satisfied with the results as he went along. We bought a 70-year-old home and I don't think the ductwork was ever cleaned! The before and after pictures are amazing!! We would recommend him to anyone"

"I recently had Big O Air Duct Services come out for a vent and duct cleaning, and let me tell you, these guys didn’t mess around! They got right down to business and the difference is night and day. The air in my home feels cleaner, I’m breathing easier and I'm happy I had it done. They were friendly, straight up professionals who got the job done without any fuss. If you’re on the fence, just go for it. It’s absolutely worth it."

Sonic Cleaning questions, answered by experts

In most cases, it is best to leave icicles on your roof and allow them to melt naturally. You should only consider removing them if they are heavy enough to cause damage to your home or pose a risk to people below. Since removing icicles can be dangerous, it is recommended to hire a professional for the job if you have immediate concerns. To prevent the issue from recurring, you should address the underlying cause, such as improving your home's insulation or installing roof heating coils.

You could void your roof warranty using a power washer if you have a newer roof. With an older roof, you could knock loose older shingles. On the other hand, some people safely use a pressure washer to remove moss from a metal roof. Although you may want to use a pressure washer, the truth is that you probably don’t need it to knock moss loose. A garden hose and brush will do the job just fine and in a safer manner than a pressure washer.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

The best time of year for roof cleaning depends on your local climate, but generally, late spring, summer, or early autumn are ideal. Plan to clean your roof on a day with dry weather and moderate temperatures.

Late spring and early summer are excellent for cleaning off grime accumulated after a snowy winter or wet spring. Summer often provides the necessary dry conditions, though in very hot climates, late spring may be more comfortable. Alternatively, cleaning in late autumn can clear away debris like leaves and branches before winter.

Avoid cleaning your roof when it is cold enough for water to freeze, as this can cause dangerous ice buildup.

The cost of removing snow from a roof averages between $300 and $700. However, this cost can range from $200 to $3,000, depending on the size of your roof, the amount of snow, and roof accessibility.

Since snowfall can range from light powder to heavy and condensed snow, part of the price of roof snow removal depends on the amount and type of snow. For 12 inches of snow, you can expect to pay between $200 and $2,000 for this job. However, for 24 inches of snow, that price rises to $300 to $3,000.
