"I think there’s a reason that you don’t see any negative reviews regarding HRTI. The contract from Greg Cotton (the owner) stated that you agree not to take any action that would harm HRTI’s reputation or lead to unfavorable publicity. I suspect customers are not likely to provide honest feedback for fear of violating the contract and being sued. Although in Colorado, I don’t think a non-disparagement clause is enforceable. Regardless, I lined out that clause in our contract and am free to provide honest feedback. I had a very bad experience. It seemed like every week his sub-contractors wanted to follow the plan or do what we agreed to in the initial walkthrough, but Greg said no. That then caused me to have to show him proof of these scope details that we agreed to. That was exhausting and required me to maintain detailed records of every conversation. I finally got to the point that I had to have every exchange in email to have a record. In person he agreed to things but then later stated that he didn’t. Not wanting to record in-person visits, my wife and I asked him not to show up in person in the last month of construction. Up to that point he only came onsite once over 6 months, so there wasn’t much difference there. My gut told me that the lack of detail in the agreement was a bad idea and would lead to trouble and it did. Hope this helps."

Siding lasts for between 20 and 40 years, at a minimum, but the lifespan you’ll see from your new siding depends on the type. Vinyl and aluminum siding have average lifespans of 20 to 40 years, while wood and real stone siding can last up to 75 years. Pressure washing shou sugi ban siding is generally not a good idea. The charring process used in creating shou sugi ban siding involves burning the wood's surface to achieve its unique appearance and enhanced durability. The charred surface is delicate, and pressure washing can easily damage it. Instead of pressure washing, you can clean it with a soft brush or broom to remove loose debris, followed by a mixture of mild soap and water applied with a soft cloth or sponge.

There should be small gaps between your roof and the walls of your home, and other buildings. These small gaps let building materials shift, expand, and contract with weather and other outside forces, and they prevent moisture from wicking down walls from roofing and gutter systems. Without these strategic gaps, your home’s exterior and its finishes can sustain water damage, decay, peel, delaminate, and crack. However, there is a fine line between a smart gap and a problematic gap—all  gaps should be small, intentional, and covered or filled in with foam insulation to prevent pests from using them as access points.

On it own, aluminum siding has a relatively low insulation value (also called R-value); aluminum siding has an R-value of 0.61. However, you can purchase insulated aluminum siding to increase the R-value to between 2 and 5. You can also install additional insulation within your walls to help maintain temperatures within your home. On average, insulation costs $1,825 to install throughout the typical home.
