"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. While both have advantages, a split system is generally cheaper than a ducted one. Because they are less invasive to install, the labor costs are lower, and they can be more energy efficient. But, a ducted system might be worth the investment if you run it more frequently. 

Many factors affect how much adding air conditioning will cost you, from the size of your home to the size, type, brand, and installation specifics of the system itself. If your home has an existing forced-air heat system, you can add a central air conditioner to it. An HVAC technician can retrofit your forced-air heating system by installing an evaporator coil onto the furnace plenum, the box next to the furnace that draws in air. Once installed, the air conditioning coils use the furnace’s blower to circulate the air.

If possible, avoid placing furniture in front of a return air vent. A blocked air vent can cause your HVAC system to use more energy, which in turn can lower the life span of your unit and raise your energy bill. Furniture can also trap hot or cold air, damaging your furniture or appliances. 

Professional duct installers suggest leaving between six and 12 inches of space in front of an air return vent. If you must place furniture in front of a return air vent, try to aim for putting furniture over a floor vent instead of in front of a wall vent, and avoid draping curtains over any vent system.

You need to know the square footage of your home first. Multiply that number by 20, which will get you the BTUs (British Thermal Units) needed to cool your home efficiently. Homes up to 1,000 square feet usually need a 1.5-ton unit; homes 1,000 to 1,200 square feet usually need a 1.75-ton unit, and homes 1,200 to 1,400 square feet usually need a 1.9-ton unit.
