"Cory and Colton arrived on the time schedule, did a survey on the apartment and quickly started moving the furniture. They were very professional and did the best they could to finish as early as possible."

"This company moved my belongings from McKinney Texas to Chicago Illinois a couple of months ago. The guys packed our one bedroom apartment very professionally and quickly. I would recommend this company to my friends."

"We hired Kings Moving to move my daughter and son-in-law into their first home. They were able to find an opening on a Sunday so we didn't have to take any time off from work. Cody, one of the movers, found out that my daughter had also bought a washer/dryer, but couldn't be delivered for at least another 3 weeks because of COVID so he picked up the washer/dryer for them, took it to their basement and hooked everythinng up. Very much appreciated and if we ever need a moving company again, we will be calling Kings!"

"The entire crew of three were all very professional and polite the whole move. It was a bit warm and I had a couple very heavy items. They wrapped all the glass items, pictures, and tv’s. Completed the job in about as long as I expected. I would most definitely use this company, especially these three guys, on my next move. Outstanding moving experience. Thank You."

"Ken contacted me within minutes of me submitting a request for a quote and followed up again the next day.  He was able to schedule me on fairly short notice (and for a Saturday move, no less!).  Nick and Graham arrived early and immediately set up floor and door jamb protectors for the house.  They also did a heroic effort with all of our books and stairs and were friendly and pleasant throughout the entire move.  All loading and unloading was completed in 5 hours, exactly what Ken quoted me for time.  We don't plan to move again, but if we do, we wouldn't hesitate to hire Moving Made Smooth!

"Our moving team was right on time, very efficient and respectful. They did an excellent job packing a very full truck for a cross country move. When we got there, nothing shifted, nothing broke. They were great, would highly recommend!!"

Moving questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you should get a full month’s notice for a move date. If you’re renting, your landlord or property management company is required to give the same amount of notice as your pay period length. So, if you pay rent each month, they will need to give you a month’s notice unless your leasing agreement says otherwise.

Yes, it is cheaper to move yourself than to hire professional movers. The average DIY move costs $120 to $2,300, while professionals cost $890 to $2,570 on average or up to $12,000 for the longest distances. While you’ll save on the cost of professional labor with a DIY move, you’ll spend more time and energy packing, loading, transporting, unloading, and unpacking.

The best way to pack mirrors is to use specially padded cartons or boxes made for mirrors. Be sure to thoroughly wrap the fragile mirror in padded paper or bubble wrap before sliding it into its box. That way, there’s a protective barrier in between the mirror and the box. Then, fill in any gaps with crumpled paper or additional packing materials.

To move a couch through a narrow doorway, first measure the couch and the doorway to ensure it will fit. For a close fit, you can create more space by removing the interior door; tap out the hinge pins with a nail and shift the door sideways to remove it from its hinges. You may need to turn the couch on its side or move it in separate pieces, if possible. Using furniture sliders can also help you slide the couch through the doorway.

Moving a kitchen cabinet can be extremely tricky for DIYers, especially if it's attached to plumbing, electrical outlets, or walls. The project requires meticulous planning, the right tools, and some muscle, not to mention a friend or two to help. While experienced do-it-yourselfers can manage it, hiring a pro is often safer to avoid damaging cabinets, countertops, or surrounding fixtures.
