Surprises are great for birthday parties but not so much when buying a home! You need to know EXACTLY what you are buying BEFORE and not be surprised afterward. Also great for sellers prior to listing so you can deal with issues before they become a problem! The Inspection Guys provide exemplary service at a fair price to avoid surprises and save you money! The more details we have about your inspection, the better. We provide an exact quote based on your needs. Information like square footage, type of home, additional tests such as radon and termite help us create an accurate quote for you! The latest in drone, robotic and thermal technology when necessary, to give our clients the most comprehensive report possible. Home Inspections include Roof, HVAC, Structure and Foundation, Interior and Exterior, Chimney, Crawlspace and Plumbing Inspection, provided by a Licensed, Insured and Certified Professional Inspector. We offer Manufactured Home Foundation Engineer Certificates.

Quality home inspections, easy to read and understand. Sent in many forms so forwarding them are a breeze. I have Been in the Construction field for 20 years so identifying a problem and knowing what is the cause helps me focus on the right areas with guessing or making a small issue seem dramatic. I am a Local member with strong ties to the area. Not only pre sale but over site when you are not in town or just want to make sure your work is done proper and installed to keep your warranties. Or to verify that it is complete before you send in your payment.

Most areas require both a building permit and an electrical permit for the installation of a home wind turbine. You may also need zoning approval, especially if your property is in a residential neighborhood or near protected land. Inspections are needed after foundation work and upon completion of electrical connections. Permit costs can range from $100 to $1,000, depending on local regulations and project complexity.

There are several signs that your house might have poor ventilation, including lingering odors, condensation on your windows, or mold and mildew. Your home may also feel stale and stuffy, or you might have trouble maintaining a comfortable temperature in your home. On top of that, you might develop allergy symptoms, such as sneezing, coughing, or headaches.

If you want to buy a home that has knob and tube wiring, you should get an inspection first. An electrical inspector can take a thorough look at the wiring and make sure that it's completely safe for your home and has no potential to cause fires or disrupt the overall wiring in your home. Never buy a house with knob and tube wiring without first getting an inspection by a certified and vetted electrician.

Replacing older chimneys or fireplaces, like wood-burning stoves, with something more eco-friendly can actually increase the value of your home. Some homeowners opt to remove chimneys as they pursue LEED certification, which may also increase the value of your home. But in general, many potential buyers actually look for operational fireplaces in homes, so removing a chimney and fireplace could decrease your home’s value by up to $5,000.

While a hygrometer is the most accurate tool for measuring humidity levels in the home, you can gauge humidity levels using simpler methods. One way is by observing signs like condensation on windows or feeling excessively sticky or clammy indoors, indicating higher humidity. Another DIY approach involves the “hair method”—aka placing a few strands of human hair in a closed container with salt for several hours. If the hair becomes limp, it's likely due to high humidity. These methods offer rough estimations, but lack the precision of a hygrometer for accurate readings.
