"Absolutely recommend! We had a squirrel getting in our chimney ~2 weeks before Thanksgiving. Although scheduled through the holiday, James made time for a quick look, then found & helped me block the squirrel's access. And, because he'd be returning to sweep the chimney, he didn't even charge for that visit. What a wonderful surprise! Our later chimney sweep was thoroughly & cleanly done w/o soot getting into the house. This is a wonderful, successful family business that I'll definitely use again."

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

Many people find switching from an electric stove to a gas stove well worth the hassle. After all, gas stoves last up to 15 years, whereas most electric stoves only last up to 13 years. Plus, the sentiment and joy of cooking over a real fire is indeed irreplaceable—and offers more precise temperature controls than electric cooktops. The cost of converting an electric cooktop to a gas stove depends on whether your kitchen already has gas supplies, and the cost can range from $125 to $2,000. Also, make sure your new stove’s dimensions match the old one.

While some building codes allow galvanized pipe for natural gas, it shouldn’t be used for propane. Propane can cause the pipe to wear down, leading to dangerous leaks. Instead of galvanized piping for propane, you should consider coated copper, black iron, or corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST). For underground propane line installation, you can use polyethylene (PE).

When hiring a plumber to install or repair gas pipes, consider asking them the following questions:

  • Do you have insurance and a professional license to do the job?

  • How long will the project take to complete?

  • Will I need to hire additional professionals for excavation or landscaping?

  • Do you have references from previous clients?

  • Do you belong to any relevant trade associations?

Yes, you can store a propane tank, whether it is full or empty. Remember that the container is contaminated with hazardous materials once it has housed propane, but as long as it’s properly placed in a well-ventilated, temperature-controlled space, a tank is unlikely to cause issues whether it is full of propane or not.

You will need to hire a professional installation technician or plumber to connect your dryer to your gas line or install a new line. Your gas company may be able to help you find a capable, reputable professional in your area.
