"My installer, Jose, was amazing! He was so accommodating to fit my schedule in a short timeframe. Jose was professional and very knowledgeable about installing tile. He installed my tile quickly and was very clean while working. I would definitely recommend Jose for tile work. Jose is also a great handyman because he also installed my TV on the wall which was difficult to do because the wall was covered in porcelain tile. THANK YOU, JOSE!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!!"

"Overall pleased with counters. They are beautiful and brightened the entire kitchen. Service was professional and timely. My only reservation is the price I paid, or the sense I didn't get as good of a deal as I thought I would when I purchased the Angie's list coupon for $2500 worth of services for $1000. I was a little she'll-shocked when I got the estimate and when I asked about the pricing model the consultant didn't explain it well. I tried to get a little more clarity about pricing per square foot and she said they don't price per square foot, but rather specs for the job. My final price was $4800, for roughly 37 square feet of granite (including backsplash). Take our $600 for undermount sink and plumbing, and $200 for taxes, results in roughly $108/sf. Considering the coupon value of $1500, the price comes out to around $67/sf. This is a fair price, but my issue is that I didn't feel that the estimate / pricing was transparent and didn't get much of a deal at the end of the day. So i initially had some buyers remorse."

"The work was done in less than a week. Everything was left very clean at the end of each day. We were very happy about the job that was done. I called Re-Bath about a leak we had from that bathroom on Monday, Robert from the company came out today and checked everything out and determined that it was a pipe leak. Although this was not a problem with the Re-Bath products or installation, he was very friendly and very helpful with guiding me on what to do next. I am very impressed with this company's customer service!"

"Julian tile was referred by a friend that had selected him from Angi . He was very knowledgeable and professional. One of the best decision we've ever made . He totally remodeled the bathroom , built a shower from scratch , all new fixtures , tile floor . He plumb my bathroom, We had rotted floors and walls that he repaired and a chimney ha had to knock out to the wall . Julian tile made the remodel enjoyable and easy. He gathered us every step of the way , he's trustworthy and we are so glad that he was referred to us . We would give him 10 start if we could instead of 5."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

There are a few different tools you can use to score tiles. Manual tile cutters or tile scribes work well for scoring in straight lines. Tile nippers are one of the best options for scoring because they can make small and irregular cuts that larger tools may not be able to handle.

It’s possible to walk on a clay tile roof, but you run the risk of breaking or cracking the tiles if you’re not careful, so it’s best not to walk on it if you can avoid it. If you or a contractor needs roof access, be sure to distribute your weight evenly and step on the portions of tile that are also supported underneath, which depends on your tile design. Walking on any roofing material is inherently dangerous, so wear rubber-soled shoes and use safety equipment if you need to access your roof.

The easiest tile size to install is large tiles, and they’re easier to install than small tiles—the job is faster and simpler when there’s less placing, adhering, and grouting to do. However, when tiles get really big, they’re more difficult to handle, cut, and fit. Standard floor tile sizes are 12-by-12 inches, 18-by-18 inches, and 12-by-24 inches.

Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.

Glass tile can cost as much as or more than other durable tile types. When choosing the right tile for you, knowing the advantages and disadvantages of each can help you make an informed decision. The pros and cons of glass tile include:

Pros

  • Light-reflecting to add brightness

  • Waterproof and mold-resistant

  • Made from recyclable materials

Cons

  • High cost compared to similar and more durable materials

  • Usually requires professional installation

  • More easily scratched compared to materials like ceramic and porcelain
