"He was my angel. He came out the very next day after my contacting him. Was able to do the work that was required. Matching the grout - you can't even tell that it had been redone. Extremely affordable. Top of the line service. Very professional and courteous. Very much appreciate their efforts that other service professionals were incapable of doing."

"This company did an amazing job at such a reasonable rate! In the past I have hired cleaners that ended up just cleaning around things, but this duo moved EVERYTHING to assure a thorough cleaning. (I even requested a couch to be rearranged in the living room). They were pleasant and worked around my two kids & I. I am absolutely pleased with their excellent job. I will definitely be hiring them again in the near future and will be referring them!"

"Good Work and Honest Recommendations! We hired Derek Mims of DM Tile & Repair after experiencing a wobbling toilet and occasional water leaking from beneath it. Removing the old toilet revealed a deteriorated wax seal, cracked grout, and uneven floor tiles. Derek inspected the floor and determined the tiles were sound and didn't need replacing. Rather than recommending costly tile replacement, he used specially designed plastic shims to stabilize the new toilet. He also repaired the cracked grout and stabilized a nearby hollow-sounding tile. Derek took time to review the new Kohler toilet's installation instructions, fitted a new seal, installed the toilet, and neatly caulked the base. We appreciated his knowledge, friendly manner, and practical recommendations that saved us unnecessary expense. The finished work looks great, and the toilet is stable with no leaks. We'd recommend Derek and DM Tile & Repair!"

Grout Tile Cleaners questions, answered by experts

You should not use caulk as a direct substitute for grout, but it can be used as a temporary solution or supplement for repairing minor cracks. Caulk is more flexible and does not dry as hard as grout. To perform the repair, first use a grout or rotary saw to remove the old, cracked grout. Then, apply a matching caulk into the cracks, smooth it over, and allow it to cure. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for drying time, which can be up to 48 hours.

Yes, you can reseal grout regardless of its age. What matters is its condition: If you’re unable to clean or repair it effectively, sealing the grout will not restore its look. In cases of cracked or damaged grout, you’ll need to repair or replace it to ensure your tiles don’t shift around and create a safety hazard.

There are a few ways to remove calcium buildup in your pipes, but the most natural option involves vinegar, baking soda, and boiling water. To use this method, pour 1/2 cup of vinegar down the drain you're trying to clear, then follow it up with 1/2 cup of baking soda. Place a rag over the drain to create a light seal and leave it for 30 minutes. Remove the rag, then pour a pot of boiling water into the drain. After the water drains, wipe everything down with a sponge.

You can tell if your grout needs to be regrouted or replaced if it shows signs of cracking, crumbling, or has gaps between the tiles. Other key indicators include persistent stains, discoloration, mold, or mildew that cannot be removed with regular cleaning. If the grout feels loose, powdery, or chips away during cleaning, it's time to consider regrouting to maintain the integrity and appearance of your tiled surfaces. Keep in mind that partial regrouting can be a more affordable option for a quick refresh without needing to do the entire area.

Professionals use various tools and cleaning solutions based on the type of floor they’re cleaning. They often use industrial steam cleaners to pull debris out of the carpet. For localized stains, they may use a commercial cleaner or a mixture of water, vinegar, and dish soap. For tile, they’ll typically use dish soap and hot water, plus a mixture of baking soda and hot water for the grout. For cleaning wood floors, they might use a low-heat steamer, a mop with an oil wood floor cleaner, or a mixture of hot water, vinegar, and lemon juice.
