"Benito and his team did exemplary work transforming my backyard. It took months and several visits for me to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with the challenging slope I had on my property, but Benito quoted multiple options for me and didn't pressure me to make a decision before I was ready. I'm very happy with the finished product because he chose high quality lower cost materials to stay in my budget, but suggested upgrades that should make the deck and erosion control/planting area last for many years. His team is very skilled and respectful. I was impressed that they left the worksite neat at the end of every day. I can tell that they were meticulous about the measurements as all of the railing balusters are perfectly spaced and the picture frame corners are an exact match. I would definitely recommend this company. If you have a challenging yard like me, they can definitely handle it!"

"They did a great job of installing the awning which is by Sunbrella and of high quality. The workmanship to make sure that it was secured properly was excellent and the customer service was great. I would recommend this company. The one thing, they could not do the electrical work of hiding the electric cord, but glad that they did not do work they are not skilled to do and an electrician was hired and did the work. Good company. Love my awning."

Awnings FAQs, answered by experts

To ensure the installation process goes smoothly, it's wise to ask a potential pro several questions. Key topics to cover include:

  • Licensing and Insurance: Do you have a professional license and insurance to perform this work? This is crucial as installing an awning into a home's exterior can be a complex job.

  • Cost Estimate: What was the price of similar jobs you've completed? Awning installation costs can vary based on size, design, and location, so this helps establish a general price range.

  • Project Timeline: How long will this project take to complete? Getting an estimated timeline provides peace of mind, even though unforeseen hurdles can occur.

  • Building Permits: Will I need a building permit for this project, and who is responsible for obtaining it? An experienced local contractor will be knowledgeable about local rules and regulations.

  • References and Portfolio: Do you have references from previous clients or photos of completed projects? Speaking with past clients and seeing previous work can give you insight into their experience and the quality of their work.

Costs range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on size, material, and design.

Awnings offer a variety of materials to choose from, each of which has its own benefits. Cotton is a lower-cost option that’s also more eco-friendly because it’s made from natural materials, while acrylic-coated polyester and vinyl offer better durability against harsh weather. Fiberglass and metal are also resilient to weather, although metal can be vulnerable to corrosion without protective sealant. Ultimately, you’ll need to consider your climate and your budget in deciding the best material for your awning.

Yes, you can replace just the fabric on an awning without having to replace the entire awning frame and hardware. This process will take a professional about one to two hours. If you want to DIY, it could take longer, especially for large or retractable awnings. Replacing the fabric on an awning can improve the look of your home and help naturally cool your interior and exterior spaces.

Awnings can be a serious investment for homeowners, particularly if it features a motorized and retractable design. Protect the exterior of your home by choosing a reliable and reputable contractor. Do some research ahead of time to get an idea of the potential contractor’s strengths and weaknesses. Don’t hesitate to give them a call to discuss specifics.
