"He installed ceiling fan without any problems. He started taking down exhaust fan in bathroom was scheduled to come back out on May 6 to finish exhaust fan. He was a no show. He never showed up or never called us. He started a job but didn't complete it. This is poor customer service to us. We would not use him again."

"I contacted David Hoskins (found him through the web) and we made an appointment for the next morning that he was not only on time but early.  We walked around and talked about what I required and he went in to detail of what was required and the time it
would take. I hired him to come back the following Monday and he again was very prompt and ready to work.
Bathroom tile install - Very knowledgeable of what was required to level floor and install tiles in a bathroom that had tiles
previously that had to be removed and floor needed replacing, David Hoskins professionally installed the new tiles (making sure to level the floor), my wife and I are both very pleased with the service we received.
Installed light box and ceiling fan ? We had a front room that didn?t have a light fixture in the ceiling David Hoskins was not only familiar with what was required but guided me on the proper wire to purchase and ceiling box and light switch. He not only drilled the hole, he ran the wire, mounted the light box and installed the ceiling fan, again a very professional job.
Painted 3 separate room ? David and his helper not only accepted the paint job which required not only painting the rooms but also required painting the ceiling of the living room.  It had been awhile since the rooms had been painted so it took a few coats which did require a little more time to accomplish the task, but again David Hoskins and his helper completed the task.
Since using David Hoskins I now consider him someone that I can call and rely on to accomplish any home improvement task that I require. Having him in my house was not only a pleasure he was totally professional and accomplished everything above and beyond. David is now considered a friend and I look forward to the next time I require assistance in my home.

"The furnace took 4 days to get approved( not counting a Sunday) the others were quick but the water heater had to be ordered so without hot water for a week. One ceiling fan was easy but within a year their policy changed and They would not install the one I purchased and had to get a new one approved and then ordered online and took several weeks to get straightened out. Not sure who was at fault, AHS, installer or scheduling with renter. Fee is usually $75 per visit"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

The more surface area that a ceiling fan blade has, the more effective it will be at producing airflow. Therefore, a longer ceiling fan blade is the better option if you’re looking for more wind. However, a longer blade will consume more energy than a shorter blade.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example:

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.

The number of blades for your fan poses both advantages and disadvantages. Typically, the more blades on a fan, the better the air distribution and cooling effect, but this also means that your fan will have more wear on its motor. For small rooms, three-blade fans should work fine. For larger areas like living rooms, four or five-blade fans might be the better option.

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.
