"Excellent customer service. Needed a special size HWH to fit the space and Justin was able to find one and install in under 2 hrs. Competitive pricing, all inclusive whereas several quotes from competitors did not include drip pan or other parts. Clean up was immaculate. Definitely recommend."

"I am the Administrator of the Moose Lodge. Our sewer drain backed up flooding the floors in four of our restrooms. This occurred while we were hosting a class of Paws 4 People Service dog trainers and so there was a very urgent need to get this fixed. Carl returned my phone message promptly, checked with his crew, and arranged a two hour response. (Great!) The crew actually arrived early and went right to work. They cleared the drain and even cleaned up at the work site. I intend to send our Lodge and my personal business their way in the future. I am quite satisfied.
By the way, I usually only rate services 4 stars if I am satisfied. Because of the fast response, reasonable charge and good service I rated East Coast as "A's" all the way.

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, short hair can clog a drain. While you might be tempted to blame the long-haired people living with you for a clogged drain, hair—no matter the length—can combine with soap scum and leftover shampoo to create a perfect storm of sticky mess that can cause your drain to slow down.

In most areas, drain cleaning professionals don’t technically need a license, as they aren’t altering your plumbing system in any way. However, we recommend hiring a drain cleaning professional with a plumbing license and certification. Certified plumbers are more likely to provide professional solutions to drain clogs without damaging your system. They’ll also have the diagnostic tools and experience necessary to remove the clog entirely rather than providing a temporary solution, as a handyperson might. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your plumber’s professional licenses before hiring.

If you have a sink stopper, it can feel more challenging to clean the drain without removing it, but here are a few simple steps:

  • Pour ½ cup baking soda into the drain using a funnel

  • Pour 1 ½ cups vinegar into the drain

  • Close the sink stopper for 15–20 minutes

  • Open the drain

  • Pour 2 cups of boiling water down the drain (be cautious as boiling water can damage some types of pipes)

If the drain isn’t unclogged, repeat the process.

DIY is not recommended due to safety risks and specialized equipment requirements. Hire professionals for effective clearing.

A good option for opening up and cleaning a sink drain is to use a ¼ cup of baking soda and 1 cup of white vinegar, along with a rubber stopper to cover the drain while those materials work their magic. After about 15 minutes, you can flush the drain with hot water. In many cases, these materials can scrub out minor clogs and get the drain working properly again. If the issue persists, call in a plumber near you to get the problem permanently fixed.
