I called Mr. McNealy and he came at the time he promised and analyzed the problem...suggested that since the leather is in excellent condition that a repair would make sense. He contacted Ethan Allen in an attempt to order the part (Reclining Mechanism Assembly) but was told that I would have to go to the store to order it. He gave me the correct parts number so I was able to place the order. Once I secured the parts, he returned and replaced the broken RMA. He and his son worked carefully, efficiently and professionally. I highly recommend this company."

Emily installed the new paper and did a tremendous job; not only on the quality of papering itself but also in her commitment to the job itself. To finish the job, she spent her Friday evening (until after 10pm) to do just that. I can't say enough good things about Red Spyder and would highly recommend them."

This required 1) demolition and removal of porcelain tile in kitchen and laundry, some hardwoods from halls, and carpet from living, dining and sun room, 2) installation of new sub-floor plywood to make all floors level, and 3) installation of new Coretec luxury vinyl planks with transitions. The team of Steve (lead), Terry and Nathan did an excellent job on all fronts. When I pointed out any concerns, Steve handled them immediately. The job was professional from start to finish, and we are very pleased with our new downstairs floors."

Wood can appear blotchy after staining due to uneven absorption, which happens when the wood has varying grain density. The denser the grain, the less the stain will be absorbed. This can cause the wood to appear uneven in color, with some areas darker than others. 

To prevent this issue, apply a wood conditioner before staining. Wood conditioners help to equalize the absorption of the stain, resulting in a more even finish. There are many different types of wood conditioners available, so be sure to choose one that is appropriate for the type of wood you are staining.

When browsing the hardware store, you may wonder about wood putty versus wood filler. Wood putty is made with plastic adhesive, whereas wood filler is made from sawdust or wood products. 

The main difference is that people use wood filler to fix the interior portions of wood. Wood putty contains chemicals that could damage the inside of wood, so it's best for exterior sections. If the crack or hole goes into the middle of the lumber, it's the right product for the job.

Chalk paint can be applied without sanding first. Keep in mind that while there are a lot of chalk paint color options available, there aren’t as many choices as latex or oil-based paint.

You can also learn how to paint furniture without sanding using a liquid deglosser, sometimes referred to as liquid sandpaper. This can remove any old paint, gloss, or varnish, without the need to manually sand. Apply the deglosser using a cloth, then wait for the chemical to penetrate through the surface. Once it soaks through, you should be able to wipe away the residue with a towel. 

You can certainly seal butcher block countertops, but not permanently. Due to the nature of the materials, it will require resurfacing down the line. This is true no matter what you use to seal the countertop, including polyurethane and mineral oil. Polyurethane will last until the countertop is damaged in some way, and mineral oil should be reapplied every two to three months. To maximize the longevity of the polyurethane sealer, apply two coats.
