"Brian Creech Roofing sucks. Yes they put a new roof and gutters on our house. The roof had holes that where not fixed and face boards that were supposed to be replaced , they had to come back out and fix, the face boards look like s*** as they pieced them in instead of replacing the whole thing as requested. Then about three years later the roof was leaking, the gutters always leaked. They did a half a** job fixing the leaks, and pounded down all the nails that were half in all over the roof. The gutters were looked at and were supposed to be replaced the finish is coming off, they are faded and they leak, and when they came back out they said they were hung wrong and the lady said they look brown not black. They took pictures and video of all things wrong, and said it would be replaced. What a joke almost two years later many many phone calls and still nothing. Don’t waste your money go with someone else!!!"

My primary business is consulting on buildings that have construction defects that allow moisture intrusion, rot, mold, etc. I also work with builders on new buildings to assist in the sequencing and selection of products to prevent moisture intrusion, promote long-term building performance, ie., concrete curing, roof flashing, window and door installation, moisture barriers, basement waterproofing, etc.

FAQs for chimney cap service projects in Kitty Hawk, NC

Chimney caps may be installed by a few different professionals, including a chimney sweep or a mason that specializes in fireplaces and chimneys. A gas fireplace technician is the best person to install a chimney cap on a gas log fireplace vent to be sure the cap is appropriate for the application.

A chimney cap costs about $300 on average. The prices range from about $75 to $1,000, depending on the material, size, any repairs needed, and if your chimney cap requires custom fabrication. Chimney caps are usually made from galvanized steel, copper, or stainless steel. Additional costs may include hiring a chimney sweep to clean the chimney before a cap is installed.

Yes, it’s worth capping a chimney. Here are several reasons to install a chimney cap:

  • Keep out rain, snow, wildlife, and other debris

  • Help prevent chimney fires

  • Reduce your chimney’s exposure to moisture

  • Maintain your chimney flue liner

  • Help reduce energy bills by helping regulate your home’s temperature

Typically, a chimney cap will last from three to 25 years. This wide range is due to variables like climate, the material the cap is made from, and how often you use your fireplace. Regular inspections and maintenance can help extend the life of your chimney cap.

The best style of chimney cap for a brick chimney is one that fits tightly around the brick top of the chimney. The cap should have a screen to fully enclose it to keep animals out. The best materials include stainless steel, copper, or aluminum that fit tightly or are custom fabricated for a perfect fit on your chimney.
