"I love my freshly painted kitchen cabinets, bedroom and drop zone cubby. Jay and Gary are top notch professionals. Communication was great from start to finish. Very fair price, showed up as planned and was respectful of our home and our schedule. I have future painting in mind and will definitely use Whiley's Painting again."

"Mario Osorio and his team really blew me away with the recent house exterior painting job they did for me. Not only did he quote me the lowest, fairest price of the 5 companies I received bids from, but he delivered on every single detail we outlined in the contract, from refinishing our front door to using some of the highest quality paint products available (Sherwin Williams Emerald). I was impressed by how thorough and thoughtful their preparations were, from recaulking and repairing windows/siding to removing and replacing downspouts and yard decorations that I forgot to move myself, and covering outdoor speakers and security cameras. They were very courteous, friendly, professional, and completed the work in a timely manner. To say that they are very hard workers who take great pride in the quality of their work is an understatement. I am recommending him to everyone I know who is in need of professional paining services, and I am definitely going to be calling Mario again when it’s time to paint the interior of my house. Bravo, Mario!!"

"There was a misunderstanding on the days to begin the job because Lonnie arrived a day early. Lonnie arrived the next day on time with all the equipment for painting except the paint. He is professional and friendly. I purchased the red paint for my doors. I am happy with the result. I would recommend J Edwards Construction to anyone needing a professional painter."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Scrape softened caulk with a putty knife or slice hardened caulk with a utility knife. Hard-to-remove caulk generally requires more time exposed to a softening solution, like a commercial product or rubbing alcohol. A few hours to a day later, the softened caulk will come off with the help of common household tools. In many cases, you can grab needle-nosed pliers for caulk with multiple old layers and pull the material off its base.

Professional painters often use a Turpentine-based solution to remove paint, since it can remove oil-based paint as well as acrylics and varnishes. It’s also an organic material derived from tree resin, so it’s less toxic than traditional paint strippers. Consult a professional cabinet refinisher or painter about the best materials to use for paint stripping.

Yes, you can pressure wash epoxy floors, but you must take precautions to avoid damaging the surface. While most epoxy floors can be cleaned with a mop, you might choose to pressure wash if the floor is stained, has ground-in dirt, or is covered with mold or mildew. To do so safely, first soak any stains or dirty areas with a gentle cleanser. Use a lower pressure setting with a gentle nozzle, such as a green, white, or black tip, or a 45-degree angled tip. Keep the spray nozzle at least 18 inches away from the floor to protect the surface. Using a surface cleaner attachment or a rotary scrubber can also help prevent overspray. Be cautious if using a power washer that heats the water, as the combination of heat and pressure may be too powerful and could damage the epoxy coating.

Most handy homeowners can tackle removing texture from unpainted walls. Removing texture from painted walls is a bit trickier. Paint acts as a sealant, so you can’t soften the texture with water. Instead, you’ll have to add a layer of drywall compound known as a skim coat. This process is messy and takes some practice.

Some homeowners have luck using pressure washers, but this only works for old or weaker concrete sealants and with very powerful pressure washers. You’ll get better results by pressure washing water-based sealants. However, it’s worth trying on any sealant if you’re hoping for the least toxic, least expensive, and most DIY-friendly option. To try this method, rent or buy the most powerful pressure washer you can find and take several passes at the concrete, completely pressure washing the entire area. You may need to repeat the process multiple times to see results.
