"Our experience with Cruz Home painting couldn’t have been better. Jesus Cruz was prompt, and pleasant to work with every step of the way. He provided a detailed job description at the outset, and went out of his way to provide stain samples and advice before starting the work. He is a perfectionist, and paid attention to the smallest details along the way. We will definitely hire him again for our next project."

"Great job! Paz submitted a thorough and professional quote of a reasonable amount. Other bids were more and less. His was the one I felt best about. He was accurate in fulfilling my requests and Andreas and Tony were excellent workers and of a great attitude...a joy to have on our property. The carpentry crew that redid the screen was good, too....just didn't get their names. They did great job, cleaned up after each day and took all debris away. Very good experience and I highly recommend Paz and his crew!"

Small jobs welcome

"Israel was very professional and communicative. He got in touch with me right away and came out to do an estimate before the job. He was very thorough and discussed everything with me. He quickly got back to me with a very fair and affordable quote as well. The job was done in a timely manner and I am very happy with the outcome. I would highly recommend him."

"They did a Great Job! Juan was very through and knew exactly what I wanted by the time he left. The painters were neat and did an excellent job, despite the heat being close to 100. I will be hiring them again 😊"

"Michelle came out and did my quote, she was very thorough and made sure the quality was up to my standard! She checked behind the contractors so that eased my mind (I’ve had painting where the contractors messed up my walls and I had to hire a WHOLE other company just to fix it.) Also loved how they made sure the paint didn’t get in places they shouldn’t be. Need to get my porch painted next, so listen for my call !!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

Choosing whether your deck should be lighter or darker than your house is a matter of personal preference, as there is no right or wrong answer. However, considering the pros and cons of each can help guide your decision. Darker colors are often chosen because they show less dirt, footprints, and marks from daily wear, making them easier to keep clean. On the other hand, lighter deck colors tend to stay cooler in the summer. From a design perspective, using a deck color that contrasts with your home's exterior can help make the deck a more defined and distinct feature. Consulting color theory can also make the process of choosing a complementary house and deck color combination easier.

Yes, it is generally a very good idea to seal your deck after pressure washing. Power washing removes not only dirt and debris but also a thin layer of wood, leaving the surface exposed and more susceptible to weathering. Sealing is almost always needed after this process. After a general cleaning, sealing isn't automatically necessary if the existing sealant is still intact. You can test the surface by placing a few drops of water on it. If the water beads up, the sealant is working. If it soaks into the wood, it's time to apply a new sealant. If it has been a few years, it's wise to remove the old sealant, wash the deck, and reseal for maximum protection.

You’ll need to restrain your deck when you notice fading, cracking, peeling, or mold and mildew over a moderate to large area, or when it’s become especially difficult to clean. As for how often to stain a deck, plan to do it every two to three years or whenever you start to notice extended damage.

No, you don't need to stain Ipe decking, although you can if you want to change the color. You will, however, need to apply a UV coating if you don't want the natural color to fade. Speak to a deck staining specialist near you to discuss the best options if you want to stain your decking. And remember that you’ll need to seal your Ipe wood deck annually to protect it from scratches and Mother Nature.
