"How did it go? Positively EXCELLENT!!! I would give Butler Contracting 10 stars if I could. Scott is very professional and knowledgeable. He is honest and trustworthy. His prices are on the mark but their workmanship is above and beyond. Scott is a can do type of guy and his crew is helpful and accommodating. They work nice and neat and keep their work debris free. The project started with just the driveway. As the work progress I was so happy with what I saw I contracted him to do a walkway that lead around the side of the house and into the yard. He routed the down spouts under the walkway and pipes that took the rain water away from the house. He thought of everything he really knows his stuff. From the walkway I had him do the patio off the back of the house. He graded the property when he was done. His work is impeccable. He is definitely my go to guy. Easy to work with , down to earth, and excellent work from underlayment to finished top layer. I am happy I found him. It’s far more labor-intensive and expensive to demolish a concrete slab before laying down pavers. You’ll need a professional to break up and haul away the concrete, excavate underneath, bring in paver base or crushed gravel, and then level the area with leveling sand before laying the pavers. A new paver patio will cost around $1,000 to $2,000, which is more than laying pavers over a concrete patio, and takes longer to complete.

The most obvious disadvantage of permeable paving is that the cost is typically higher compared to non-permeable concrete, pavers, or asphalt methods. Also, the porous material can get clogged with dirt and debris, requiring cleaning and power washing more frequently than standard paving materials and methods. Although permeable paving is not ideal for highways, airports, and other surfaces supporting heavy traffic and machinery, it is suitable for regular residential driveways.

Pea gravel can be used as a base for a paver patio, but it’s not the preferred choice. Because it is small and round, pea gravel moves much more easily than other base options, like crushed stone, so it won’t keep your pavers in place properly. 

If you do opt for pea gravel, compact it well and use an additional binding agent (like stone dust) to keep everything from shifting.

While the specific timeline for building a driveway can vary based on driveway length and local weather conditions, the average concrete driveway can require several days to lay down all of the different parts of the driveway. The curing process may require you to avoid using your driveway for a week following construction. Heavier vehicles should be kept off of a new concrete driveway for several weeks. Building a gravel driveway may take just one to two days in total.

Whether it's worth it to install a heated driveway depends on how often you'll use it, your lifestyle, and your budget. If you live in a mild climate with little snowfall, then installing a built-in heated driveway system may not be worth it. If you live in a region that experiences mild snowfall, then a portable mat could work better. However, if you live in a region with heavy snowfall, it makes sense to invest in a built-in heated driveway.
