"I recently hired True Authority for my lawn maintenance needs, and I must say, I’m thoroughly impressed. From the initial consultation to the final trim, their service was exemplary. The quality of their work exceeded my expectations. The precision with which they mowed, edged, and trimmed was truly impressive. My lawn has never looked greener or more manicured. Moreover, their attention to detail was remarkable. They didn’t just focus on the obvious areas but also took the time to tackle overlooked spots, ensuring a consistently pristine appearance. Lastly, their customer service was exceptional. They were courteous, responsive, and went above and beyond to accommodate my schedule and preferences."

"Wilber Bonilla from Greenery landscaping is in the process of landscaping our property, adding a stepping stone walkway and has built us a lovely 16'x32' interlocking paver patio. We are beyond ecstatic with his work. He has great suggestions and listens to our desires in making our property beautiful, but keeping it low maintenance. Once the weather permits he will add a stepping stone walkway and more plants/shrubs. Wilber contacted us through home advisors after we requested a patio estimate. He has been in business for himself for 2 years now but has 15 years experience. Wilber and his team are meticulous and have gone above and beyond our expectations."

Customers say: Quick response

"Oliver Landscaping reached out to me immediately upon receiving the driveway clearing request. They showed up same day, after sundown, to clear the driveway. They communicated consistently on their timeline and very courteous and conscientious with the work. I was immensely grateful as the driveway was very icy and I was unable to clear it own my own. It was much needed as I was unable to leave for necessary errands to support my mom, who lives with me. Thank you so much! Such a lifesaver!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Grass is the most popular and safest option for planting over a septic drain field, but you can also plant small flowering plants and other lightweight plants that don’t have woody or deep roots. Avoid trees and bushes within 10 feet of the field, as the woody roots can crack the perforated pipes. You should also avoid planting vegetable or fruit gardens over your drain field, as a leak from the pipes could contaminate the soil and put anyone who eats the produce at risk.

Pavers are one of the most affordable methods of creating an elevated outdoor space. Gravel is an equally affordable alternative. If your budget permits, you can look into building a permeable driveway to ensure proper drainage. Grid pavers, pervious concrete, brick, and brick pavement are all effective materials. Permeable driveways are great options, especially if you live in an area with heavy rainstorms.

The best landscape edging tool depends on you and your needs. For homeowners who are looking for a budget-friendly edging material, plastic might be the best option for them. However, homeowners who want a low-maintenance option might opt for concrete or brick. Since there are loads of gardening edging ideas, decide what factors (maintenance, style, or budget) are most important to you to help you narrow your choices.

If you’re hiring a landscaper to plant the garden of your dreams, you do not need to provide them with plants that you bought yourself from a nursery. While you certainly can provide your landscaper with plants, keep in mind that some nurseries provide discounts to landscaping companies, therefore potentially lowering your materials cost. Beyond the cost of the plants themselves, you need to have additional materials like topsoil and mulch for the project. Most likely, your landscaper can get a discount on these materials as well, so it’s worth speaking with them before making any large purchases.

As much as you might try to keep a healthy, nutrient-rich lawn, you still may notice signs of St. Augustine decline (SAD)—a viral disease that discolors your grass blades. St. Augustine decline looks like:

  • Discoloration in the leaves (chlorosis)—leaves appear yellow and splotchy

  • Decline in growth

  • Leaves turn black within 3 years

  • Grass appears less vibrant

  • Grass begins to thin

  • Root rot

  • Grass takes longer to recover
