After two years in the Army, he assumed a loan officer position with the Farmers Home Administration. Working nearly 40 years as the Catawba County Supervisor for USDA, and FMHA, he facilitated providing funds to build homes, to buy, develop and operate farms. Other funding projects included funding fire stations, child care/senior care facilities, water and sewer systems, various other public projects and business loans.
