Small jobs welcome

"Matias and his crew were excellent! They blew some insulation in my attic for me, and I am thrilled with the result. They ran into a problem accessing part of my attic, but thanks to their creative problem-solving, they were able to fix it and get insulation throughout the whole attic. They went above and beyond, and I absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs insulation work."

Customers say: True professional

"After meeting with three companies, I selected Asheville Drywall. Daniel did a fantastic job repairing our water damaged ceiling in our living/dining/kitchen space. They encapsulated the specific area to protect the rest of our home before efficiently removed the damaged sheetrock and attic insulation. They then installed the new materials and did an exceptional job matching the ceiling texture to the rest of the room. Lastly, they painted the entire ceiling area. Daniel was communicative throughout the process from the day he first assessed the situation, to providing a quote to setting up a date to work to following up afterwards. I highly recommend Asheville Drywall!"

"Highly Recommend Wal-Masters Drywall LLC Fast, Reliable, and Affordable! I had some drywall repairs needed after Hurricane Helene, and Wal-Masters Drywall LLC absolutely delivered. This husband-and-wife team showed up on time, worked quickly, and did an excellent job. What another company quoted me $800 for and said would take 2–3 days, they completed in just about 1.5 hours using Quikset...with flawless results. Their work was clean, professional, and fairly priced. If you’re looking for drywall repair in Asheville or the surrounding area, I can’t recommend them enough. Honest, hard-working, and skilled...exactly the kind of small business worth supporting!"

"Next Phase Drywall just completed a full house popcorn ceiling removal. We have never had such a positive experience in remodeling. Bryant, the project manager is so knowledgeable, has great communication, and gave us an itemization of the process along with a timeline. The entire team was exemplary and we couldn’t be more pleased. We would highly recommend Next Phase Drywall for any of your drywall needs, they also paint as well. Cannot thank you enough Team Bryant!!!"

"Jesùs and his team are great workers. They work quickly and do a very professional job. The walls are smooth and they even did a primer coat so it was easier when we painted. They keep a clean work site and stay in contact about pricing and any questions. We have worked with this company more than once and even referred them to friends in our neighborhood. I would trust them to do work in our home anytime. They have done framing, trim carpentry, and installation of doors and rails as well as painting and drywall work."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

You should leave a gap between drywall sheets because they naturally expand and contract along with the building framing as temperature and humidity change. Most pro drywall installers leave a gap of about ⅛ inch between drywall sheets, allowing the sheets to expand, contract, and shift without cracking or becoming damaged. If you don’t leave enough gaps between slabs, the edges will press against each other when they expand, and the pressure can cause visible cracks.

It’s not a good idea to plaster over broken plaster (unless by broken you’re referring to cracked, in which case that’s perfectly fine). However, broken plaster can be a sign of a larger underlying issue like foundation damage or severe damage to the lath holding up the plaster, so it’s worth investigating before you simply plaster on top of the damage.

Knowing what causes drywall damage can help stop it before it starts. Here are some of the most common causes of drywall damage:

  • Water damage from roof leaks or leaky pipes.

  • Small holes caused by doorknobs, minor accidents, and rodent infestations.

  • Wall dents stemming from moving furniture and minor accidents.

  • Wall cracks that form from a settling foundation or seismic activity.

  • Nail pops from nails and screws in the walls.

  • Large holes that are caused by accidents with heavy objects, children and pets, or sporting equipment.

Yes, you can mount a TV on plaster walls—as long as you attach it to the studs. Alternatively, you can use toggle bolts, molly bolts, or another type of hardware that’s strong enough to support a TV.

If you aren’t comfortable with this type of project, you can hire a pro. The cost of mounting a TV to a plaster wall ranges from $25 to $600 (or more), depending on the TV’s weight, size, and other factors.

When you are learning how to tape and mud drywall, waiting for things to dry requires a lot of patience. So how long does drywall mud take to dry? On average, it takes about 24 hours. However, it depends on things like the thickness of the mud, as well as the room’s temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Using thin layers of mud in a warm, low-humidity room with good airflow reduces average drying time. You also could speed up drying time by making use of hot drywall mud, which consists of a powder that you mix with water, instead of using pre-mixed mud.
