"I use regularly and also for a once a year Deep/Spring cleaning. They were the third cleaning service I had tried after moving to the area and I had to look no further. Recommended by my window cleaning service, they clean as I would. Detail oriented, reliable, trustworthy."

Small jobs welcome

"Joan at Fresh Start is a miracle worker! My house was starting to look like "Hoarders Buried Alive" and I was too overwhelmed to even start cleaning. Joan plunged right in and we got things sorted, donated & thrown away in no time! We cleaned the garage in an afternoon. Joan is the Energizer Bunny, she doesn't stop! She kept me focused and at the end of the day a room would emerge, looking like House Beautiful! I would highly recommend her. She's personable, professional and a pleasure to work with. I am thrilled to enjoy my "new" clean, spacious, beautiful home."

"Property Supers is by far the best window cleaning service I have ever used. If I could give them 100 stars I would. Jake and Larry not only cleaned the windows inside and outside but also the screens as well as the cobwebs, spider webs and paint splatters on the glass. I am a very particular housekeeper so I strongly recommend their services. I will definitely use them again for they were not only on time but also so polite, courteous and very hard working."

House Cleaning questions, answered by experts

No, you should never use isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to clean flat paint or paint with any other finish. Isopropyl alcohol works similarly to a paint thinner, so it’s likely to liquify the paint on your walls and leave damaged or bare areas. For stubborn stains, try mixing one cup of vinegar or baking soda into a bucket of warm water and scrubbing very gently with a soft sponge. If the stain or soiling is pervasive, touch up the area by repainting the affected areas.

Smoke smell and odors typically will not go away completely on their own, especially once the particles have penetrated porous materials like walls, floors, ceilings, and furniture. While airing out affected items can help the smell subside over time, it often lingers for months or even years. To effectively remove stubborn smoke odors, you should combine several methods. Start with a thorough deep cleaning and deodorizing using substances like baking soda or activated charcoal. Air purifiers can also help capture airborne particles. In severe cases, you may need to replace heavily damaged materials. If the smell persists after repeated treatments, consider hiring a professional smoke damage restoration company for assistance.

Some housekeepers bring their own cleaning supplies and equipment, while others expect you to provide them. Always clarify this detail before hiring, as it can affect both the overall cost and the types of products used in your home. If you have specific preferences for certain brands or eco-friendly products, discuss these needs upfront to avoid misunderstandings.

Unless it’s written into the purchase agreement, there’s no legal obligation that a house you’ve bought has to be clean before you move in. The previous owner is generally required to sweep the house, but that doesn’t guarantee everything will be spotless upon your arrival. If possible, discuss the cleaning requirements with the real estate company before moving in.

You can use dish soap mixed with warm water to clean just about any type of flooring, and while vinegar is a great addition to some floor cleaners, it’s not a good idea to use it on wood flooring or engineered wood flooring. Vinegar is very acidic, and it can gradually eat away at the protective finish on wood floors. If you’re cleaning laminate, tile, concrete, or vinyl floors, feel free to use vinegar and water in a 1-to-1 ratio with a few drops of dish soap. For wood floors, substitute the vinegar for olive oil.
