"Todd took a lot of time and energy to teach us about the health and wellbeing of our trees. His love for trees was infectious and inspiring. He very generously allowed a group of amateur arborists to watch and ask questions. It wasnâ t cheap to hire Todd, but the investment in our fruit orchard and also the knowledge we learned will be well worth it!"

"Youve heard of a jack of all trades, but you cant be sure youve met one until you hire this man. He doesnt just do a job, he makes art. He took the time to communicate about EVERYTHING we wanted and delivered with nothing less than what we asked for. He even went above and beyond hand cutting and measuring the wood to deliver a truly clean flush look to our yard. Our family is so beyond happy with the way our fence looks as well as the security it provides for our newborn and our dogs. He was one man, but he got it done in less than a week and he was the person directly discussing what he would be doing as he was doing it. We fully intend to hire him next year for our next big project, and you should definitly consider him for yours."

"Needed fencing installed to keep groundhogs from taking up residence under our deck. Brady came up with a creative and complete solution that made sure the varmints were out and would not return. Would use again."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The recovery time for pruning depends on how much you prune, the species of tree, and how well you care for it afterward. All trees grow new wood and often sprout additional branches after pruning. Ideally, trees should recover from normal pruning after one or two years. Heavy pruning or slow-growing trees may take several years to fully recover.

An arborist specializes in tree care, performing tasks such as pruning, treating diseases, and removing hazardous trees. They also assess soil conditions, plant trees, and develop landscaping plans to ensure healthy growth. They also manage debris cleanup, inspect equipment, and record maintenance activities. Arborists often collaborate with landscapers and professional tree maintenance services, applying their specialized knowledge and problem-solving skills to maintain tree health and safety.

In some states and municipalities, you will need a permit to remove a tree on your property. In many cases where permits are required, a tree must reach a maximum height before a permit is required to remove it. You can either ask your local building department or a tree removal professional if you’ll need a permit. If you do, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 for the permit alone. Your tree removal company should pull the permit for you and include the permit fee in your total.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.

For trimming trees, your best tool is a pair of pruning shears or loppers. Both options work best for branches that are under 3 inches in diameter. Trimming trees with a larger diameter may require a robust tool like a small chainsaw or a handsaw, so take into account your tree’s diameter when deciding between tools.
