"Charles fit me into his schedule on fairly short notice, removed a large section of our old driveway, took out the many tree roots that had destroyed the old concrete, and replaced with new concrete at a very reasonable price. His work is top notch, very pleased with the result! I highly recommend Charles and Carolina Concrete and Brick!"

"Juan and his crew from Moreno Mix Concrete was the company we went with to enlarge our back patio. After looking at three quotes Moreno was hands up in price. Juan and his crew were excellent, they did a thorough job at communication, work, clean up and completion. We were so pleased we recommend this company to my brother that needed to do his patio. I give Juan and his crew a A+, and we will use again for future concrete projects."

"AH Concrete did a great job on our patio extension. Alberto was very friendly and professional, and communicated very well throughout the whole process. Our concrete is smooth and looks very nice. He also did a great job cleaning up, going above and beyond by working in the rain to clean up our backyard. His price was very reasonable, and I would recommend AH Concrete if you need concrete services."

"He doesn't just do concrete work. He does so much more. I have worked with many contractors and only had one other good experience with contractors. They finished on time and did what they said. He explained the whats and whys during the process and confirmed I was satisfied with everything. He was amazing."

"I absolutely had an amazing experience! Cameron called and discussed the project I needed and he was at the house the next week. He finished my driveway which is a pretty nice size in 2 days. There have been no cracks, no puddling, and no concrete bubbles! I am so happy with his work and would recommend him for anything."

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

When comparing installation costs, asphalt is often less expensive upfront than concrete. Asphalt prices typically range from $7 to $15 per square foot, while concrete can range from $3 to $18 per square foot. However, long-term costs should also be considered. Concrete driveways generally last longer (up to twice as long) and require less maintenance, which can make them more affordable over their lifespan. While asphalt has a lower installation cost and is easier to repair, it requires more frequent maintenance, such as sealing, which can add up over time. Therefore, while concrete is more expensive initially, its durability may offset the cost in the long run.

Jet washers can last for up to 10 years, but a more exact timeline for your jet washer depends on the frequency of use and maintenance. Some machines are given a rating of their approximate total hours of usage, which can help determine how long yours will stick around based on how many hours you use it each year. Aside from learning how to properly use the jet washer, you’ll want to keep it stored safely and securely so that it won’t rust or get damaged between uses.

You can whiten concrete for unsealed and unfinished concrete with a solution or either muriatic acid or bleach and water—but never both. However, if your concrete does have a stain, finish, or polish, keep in mind that these hard chemicals could damage the topcoat. Your best bet otherwise is to power wash outdoor concrete slabs or clean indoor ones with a gentle cleaner such as laundry or dish detergent.

Whether you need to winterize your pressure washer depends on where you store it. If you can keep it in a relatively warm place with no risk of freezing, you won't need to add antifreeze. However, if the machine will be stored in freezing temperatures, any liquid left in the water pump can freeze, expand, and cause severe damage. To prevent this, add antifreeze to keep it in good condition. While some suggest emptying the machine with compressed air, this can be a tedious process that may not fully drain the liquid. Regardless of storage conditions, it is also good practice to empty the gas chamber and refresh the oil before winter storage.

Maintaining a driveway depends on its material. For concrete and asphalt, it's best to clean the surface thoroughly twice a year with a stiff broom and a pressure washer to remove accumulated dirt and debris. Sealing the driveway is crucial to protect it from water damage and freeze-thaw cycles. Before applying a sealant, pressure wash the surface to remove any loose sealant, dirt, or stains, as sealing over them will trap them. Any cracks or expansion joints should be filled with a flexible polyurethane caulk or asphalt sealer. In colder climates, use sand instead of salt for de-icing. Sand helps melt snow and ice without accelerating the freeze-thaw process, which can cause cracks.
