"I had limbs hanging on the roof of my two story house. I mentioned to my lawn service, A Cut Above, I was looking for someone to trim the tree. It is between our house and the neighbors. They said they could do it. I was surprised and happy. I had not been aware they did tree service. Craig came out on his off time to look at the tree. His quote was lower than I expected. They did a great job. I will continue to use them for any business they provide."

Customers say: Quick response

"I used Angie's List to research a tree stump service in my area. There were two. Mr. Morrisey responded within 30 minutes of my inquiring about receiving service! He was polite, professional, and very reasonable. That was a Saturday morning and by Monday mid-morning, I had 13 stumps removed off of our property! We were very pleased with the efficiency and reasonable prices Mr. Morrisey provided to us. Would hightly recommend this company!"

"I hired ShoreFix to replace a gate closure across my driveway. The gate is only a year old, and not many contractors want to deal with someone else's work without starting from scratch. By the time Dustin arrived I thought I was well-versed in my needs and prepared for the unnecessary upsell. The concept of what I needed done was on point. However, the practical work had a few details missing. I didn't have pins that fit into the driveway and I didn't have a handle to open and close the gate. He didn't try the unnecessary upheld and was willing to do exactly the work I needed. I appreciate ShoreFix for taking on the small job when no one else would. I'm also appreciative that Dustin did great work at a fair price. Now, as I consider more fence work, I know who to call."

"Needed fencing installed to keep groundhogs from taking up residence under our deck. Brady came up with a creative and complete solution that made sure the varmints were out and would not return. Would use again."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Aside from removing dead or diseased branches, you should prune your trees somewhere between every one and three years. Some people—particularly commercial farmers—prune their apple trees yearly to produce higher yields. This is the best way to promote tree health. That said, the average homeowner can get away with hard-pruning their mature apple tree every other year or every three years.

Generally speaking, you’ll want to avoid flush cuts, which are cuts made as extremely close to the trunk or main branch. These cuts can weaken your tree, lower its natural defense mechanisms, and even cause decay. You’ll also want to avoid tree topping, which is the total removal of the leader and upper main branches of a tree.

Most pros will advise against either of these methods, which is why hiring a pro is often the best choice when it comes to tree trimming.

Costs reflect the size of the tree or shrub, the complexity of the task, location accessibility, and disposal needs, and comprehensive quotes vary accordingly.

You should prune ornamental trees once every other year after the fruit has matured and begun to drop. You should also prune out dead branches whenever you see them. Pruning too often can stimulate more growth, especially in faster growing varieties like Bradford pears.

Tree roots don’t necessarily break through concrete on their own, but they can certainly take advantage of existing cracks, even very small ones. As roots grow, they expand the cracks, making them larger and leading to serious and costly foundation damage. It’s a good idea to have repairs on any foundation cracks you’re concerned about.
