"communication with the staff was pretty lousy. But once work began everything seemed good. My only issue was we were told that an inspector would come out and check work for and remove the building permit of the door, and they would send pictures of the work they did that never happened. We are still having the same problems. Plus the vapor barrier was destroyed and wanted us to pay to replace it. we thought it was new pretty much. Bottom line we never saw the inspector."

"Phenomenal experience from start to finish. Highly recommend. Dave, Gary, & Corey, Thank you! From 1st consolation to completion of foundation project work, I could not be more pleased. On time, demonstrated strong work ethics, made sure at the end of each day they tidied up areas & yard before leaving, all representatives of Tar Heel Basement Systems were professional when speaking & by actions. Provided information on what & how they completed the work needed, showed pictures of completed work, and expectations for next steps. Extremely happy with Tar Heels Basement Systems and will be referring to family and friends. They have provided peace of mind which is priceless. My 89 year old house is ready for the next generation."

"We had roof damage and our deck was destroyed during the hurricane. TG came in and fixed the roof plus tore out the old deck and replaced it...plus an addition to the deck and build a new roof for the deck. Wonderful work, very nice to work with and did not try to charge and outrageous amount. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks for a great experience!"

"I had them come out an do a paver driveway! They had quoted me on the cheaper side being 10,000 so I was skeptical. But they delivered quality work at a unbeatable price! I will be calling them back to do more work I highly recommend them!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

A traditional rectangular brick that is used for siding, brick walks, and pathways is 8 inches long by 4 inches wide. If you are shopping for fire bricks, the standard dimension is typically 9 inches long by 4.5 inches wide.

Drilling into brick doesn’t have to be a dangerous project if you prep and approach it with the right tools and techniques, but it does come with risks if it’s not done correctly. It can lead to significant issues, such as damaging the brick or affecting the wall’s structural integrity. Applying too much force can crack or chip the brick, while incorrect placement might compromise its load-bearing strength.

Cobblestone is not a type of rock but a term for a mosaic or rock laid down as a surface. It used to be made from the closest available stone but now can be made from nearly any hard rock, as machining has made shaping the stone much easier and cheaper.

Removing paint from brick can have both aesthetic and practical value. Some people prefer the timeless look of bare brick, making it worthwhile to remove old paint layers. Brick also lasts longer when unpainted, as paint traps moisture, causing the brick to deteriorate more quickly. If your brick walls are already in bad shape, stripping the paint off might do more harm than good.

They offer durability, aesthetic appeal, and resistance to weathering compared to concrete or asphalt.
