Grinding your concrete before resurfacing can ensure that your resurfacing material lasts longer, reducing additional concrete resurfacing costs down the line.

No, stamped concrete is extremely durable and relatively easy to maintain. To keep your stamped concrete clean and help prevent staining, you should sweep any debris off it regularly, like you would with any other hard outdoor surface. You should also plan on resealing the concrete about every four years, which is about the same timeline you’d expect from pavers and natural stones.

Pervious concrete should be between 4 and 8 inches thick to drain water properly. Surfaces like parking lots and driveways should be at least 6 inches thick to accommodate the weight of vehicles, while patios and walkways may be poured between 4 and 6 inches thick. For a driveway that is 200 square feet, you can expect to pay $600 to $1,800, and for a driveway that is 500 square feet, that cost averages $1,500 to $4,500. Resurfacing your driveway will give you the look and feel of a new surface without the hefty cost.

You can apply an exposed aggregate finish to existing traditional concrete, but you’ll need to resurface the concrete and include aggregate in the top layer of concrete. You’ll also need to prepare the surface beforehand to ensure a good bond between the materials. Adding exposed aggregate is a job best handled by a concrete professional.
