"Daniel came and measured, appraised, and installed my carpet and LVP in my home. The results were amazing. Our home definitely needed this refreshing. He was easy to communicate with, quick to get the materials, and the installation was efficient and very painless for me. I would hire him again for any flooring needs."

Small jobs welcome

Customers say: Quick response

"J&E is the best contractor for general home improvements that I've ever had the blessings to work with. They added a 12x28 porch over an existing deck and its just beautiful. At the same time, seeing the quality of work that was being performed, I asked them if they could rebuild my hand rail system around all of my decks, 1400 sq ft of decks too, and it looks beautiful and its not just show rails either as its properly mounted and fully functional as safety devices while looking great. Those two jobs turned in to a yet another small project of rebuilding a roof over the entrance to my shop where i work on my bikes and hot-rods and it too was perfect. Then, and I'm not kidding, Ernesto showed up and painted all of my decking surface and it could not look any better than it does. I will be hiring them again in the future and I'd recommend them to anyone with absolutely no hesitations. Ms Jasmine handles the phone calls and coordination aspects of the job and she;s on it. She answers calls, texts and emails, she actually answers you and you're not stuck waiting and wondering what is going on with your project and your contractor. Shes got things well in hand. Highly, highly, recommend them."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

For example, thick padding works well in low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, where you have soft and plush carpeting. However, thick carpet padding can damage low-pile carpet, which is used in the busiest parts of your home (like hallways and entryways). For that reason, it’s best to use thinner, heavier padding underneath carpet in high-traffic areas.

Yes, installing laminate over carpet could negatively affect the resale value of your home. It’s no surprise that homebuyers prefer flooring that someone has installed according to industry standards. Laminate over carpet may raise concerns about the quality and stability of the flooring, impacting the overall perceived value of the property.

If the stairs are already covered in carpet, you will need to remove the old carpet and possibly the carpet pad. Any damage to the stairs like cracks, loose boards, or creaky treads may also need to be repaired. You may also want to sand and refinish or paint wood stairs before installing a carpet runner.

A 65-oz. carpet is good, and in many cases, it indicates a premium carpet. Most carpets for homes should fall in the range of 40 to 60 ounces for face weight. If a carpet has a 65-oz. face weight, it is likely more durable and long-lasting than a similar carpet with a lower face weight. Carpet face weight is just one factor in determining a carpet’s quality.

The difference between a 40-oz. and 60-oz. carpet is the carpet face weight, meaning the 60-oz. carpet weighs 20 ounces more per square yard. When looking at two similar carpets of the same material and type, the 60-oz. carpet face weight likely indicates higher quality and more durability due to heavier carpet fibers.
